Reader’s notes

p. 156. The table has two printed columns: the stub ("Action taken") and one value column ("Cases/Amount", printed on two lines and joined here). Row "III. ... A. Awards granting fees (includes settlements):" has no value printed in the Cases/Amount column — the cell is empty in the image, while every other data row carries a printed 0. This is transcribed as "" rather than 0; it appears to be an omission in the original, since the parallel rows under II and IV both print 0. The roman-numeral section labels (I., II., III., IV.) are printed in a narrow hanging indent at the left of the stub but belong to the same stub column, so they are kept at the start of each section row's label. The lettered items (A., B., C.) and the unlettered items (Granting fees, Denying fees, Claimed, Recovered) are successively deeper indents within the same stub column; indentation is not otherwise preserved. Multi-line row labels (I.B, II.C) are joined into one line. The caption's footnote marker 1 is attached to "Fiscal Year 2009" in the title, which is excluded; the footnote text itself is given in footnotes and is printed on two lines, joined here.
