Reader’s notes

p. 116. 14 columns. The three stub-spanning headings ("Participating unions", "Total elections^2", "Elections in which no representative chosen", "In elections where no representative chosen", "Total", "In elections won", and the five sub-heads under "Elections won by unions") are tall single cells repeated down the levels they span. Dash cells: many data cells are printed with a double-hyphen dash ("--") rather than a number. Following the stated convention these dash-only cells are transcribed as "". Note that the table separately prints a literal "0" in some cells (e.g. "Local v. Local" / Elections in which no representative chosen = 0; "National v. Local v. Local" / Other national unions = 0), so the source distinguishes "--" from 0 and that distinction is lost in this grid. Affected cells are exactly those left empty in the data columns. The crop is cut off at the bottom: section "B. Elections in RC cases" shows only its first two data rows (AFL–CIO, Other local unions); the remainder of panel B continues below the crop. No footnote text is printed on this crop, although footnote markers appear in the caption ("Fiscal Year 2008^1", caption excluded per instructions) and in the "Total elections^2" column heading. Arithmetic cross-checks pass throughout: the 1-union, 2-union, 3 (or more)-union subtotals and the "Total representation elections" line all sum correctly across every numeric column, which supports the column assignments. Label "A. All representation elections" and "B. Elections in RC cases" are printed centered across the table with two spaces after the letter; transcribed with a single space.

p. 117. 14 columns. The crop is page 2 of 3 of the table, so it opens in the middle of section B (RC cases): the first row ("Other national unions") and the "1-union elections" subtotal continue a group whose earlier lines (AFL–CIO, other local unions) are on the previous page. The two-hyphen "--" entries are kept as printed because this table distinguishes them from a printed "0" (e.g. "Local v. Local" has "--" under AFL–CIO unions and other national unions but "0" under elections with no representative chosen); if your convention treats them as empty, they are the "none" marker, not a dash rule. Row labels printed on two lines were joined: "National v. National v. National / v. National" and "AFL–CIO v. AFL–CIO v. Local / v. Local". The centered section line "C. Elections in RM cases" spans the table width and carries no values. Footnote markers appear in the caption (1, omitted with the caption) and on the "Total elections^2" heading, but no footnote text is printed on this page. All subtotal and total rows check out arithmetically against their components, and every "Percent won" matches total won / total elections, so column alignment is well corroborated.

p. 118. 14 columns: stub, "Total elections^2", five columns under "Elections won by unions", "Elections in which no representative chosen", five columns under "Employees eligible to vote" (Total; In elections won; and three under "In units won by"), and "In elections where no representative chosen". Many cells print a short double dash ("--") meaning not applicable; following the dash-rule convention these are transcribed as "". They are distinct from the printed zeros ("0"), which are kept as 0 — e.g. in the "AFL–CIO v. AFL–CIO" row the AFL–CIO-unions columns print 0 while the other-national and other-local columns print "--". The footnote marker 1 on the caption's "Fiscal Year 2008" is on the excluded caption line; footnote 2 is attached to the "Total elections" column heading. The crop shows only section "D. Elections in RD cases" (page 3 of 3 of the table); sections A–C are on the preceding pages. The row label "AFL–CIO v. Local" is followed by a stray period before the leader dots, dropped as part of the leaders. All printed subtotals and the "Total RD elections" line are internally consistent with the detail rows as transcribed; nothing appears misprinted.
