  1. 1 See Glossary of terms for definitions.
  2. 2 The States are grouped according to the method used by the Bureau of Census, U.S. Department of Commerce.

693 of 693 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 97. 17 columns: stub, "All cases", eight unfair-labor-practice columns (All C cases, CA, CB, CC, CD, CE, CG, CP), four representation columns (All R cases, RC, RM, RD), then UD, AC and UC. Headings are three levels deep; the stub head, "All cases" and the C/R column labels are tall headings repeated down to the UD/AC/UC level. The crop is cut off at the bottom: the last fully printed row is Utah, which is a member state of the Mountain division; the remaining state(s) of that division and the "Mountain" subtotal line continue below the crop (the caption says "Page 1 of 3"). Footnote markers appear in the caption ("Fiscal Year 2008^1") and in the stub heading ("Division and State^2"), but no footnote text is printed within the crop, so `footnotes` is empty. No doubtful cells. As an internal check, every state row's "All cases" equals All C + All R + UD + AC + UC, every "All C cases" equals CA...CP, every "All R cases" equals RC + RM + RD, and all four division subtotals (East North Central, East South Central, Island Areas, Middle Atlantic) agree with the sums of their member rows in all 16 numeric columns.

p. 98. The crop is page 2 of 3 of Table 6A, so the table is cut off at both ends: it opens mid-way through the Mountain division (only the last state, Wyoming, and the "Mountain" subtotal line are shown) and it breaks off after "North Carolina", in the middle of the South Atlantic division (no divisional subtotal for that group appears here). The footnote markers 1 (on "Fiscal Year 2008") and 2 (on the stub heading "Division and State") are printed, but no footnote texts appear on this page; they are presumably printed on the last page of the table. Header structure: 17 printed columns. "Unfair labor practice cases" spans the 8 columns All C cases through CP; "Representation cases" spans All R cases through RD; the stub, "All cases", and the C/R subcolumn headings are tall headings spanning the full header depth, while only the three rightmost headings have a separate bottom band carrying the case codes UD, AC and UC. Indented rows "Mountain", "New England" and "Pacific" are divisional subtotal lines (set off by double rules in the image), transcribed with their printed indent dropped. "District Of Columbia" is transcribed with the capital "O" as printed. Every value was arithmetic-checked: each state row's All C cases equals CA+CB+CC+CD+CE+CG+CP, All R cases equals RC+RM+RD, and All cases equals All C + All R + UD + AC + UC; the Mountain, New England and Pacific subtotal lines also reconcile column-by-column against the states shown (for New England and Pacific, whose member states are all on this page, every one of the 16 columns sums exactly). No misprints or doubtful cells were found.

p. 99. The crop is the last page of a table continued from earlier pages: it opens in the middle of the South Atlantic division (South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, then the "South Atlantic" division subtotal), so the earlier divisions and the states above South Carolina are not on this image. Column headings are printed on this page and are transcribed. 17 columns: stub, "All cases", eight unfair-labor-practice columns (All C cases, CA, CB, CC, CD, CE, CG, CP), four representation columns (All R cases, RC, RM, RD), and UD, AC, UC. The last three top-level headings ("Union deauthorization cases", "Amendment of certification cases", "Unit clarification cases") sit over the code row UD/AC/UC, which has its own rule; the other column headings span the lower two heading levels and are repeated there. Footnote marker 1 is not attached to anything inside the crop — it belongs to the table caption, which is excluded. The stub heading carries a raised 2. Division subtotal rows ("South Atlantic", "West North Central", "West South Central") and the grand-total row are indented in the original; indentation is not preserved in the cell text. All printed subtotals and the component sums I spot-checked are internally consistent; no suspected misprints. All digits are clearly legible.
