Reader’s notes
p. 89. Four printed columns: stub, "Cases in which formal actions taken", and the spanner "Formal actions taken by type of case^2" over AC and UC. The stub heading and the "Cases in which formal actions taken" heading are tall single headings spanning both header levels, so they are repeated in level 2. Several rows do not add across as printed; all are transcribed exactly as shown: "Hearings completed" 28 vs AC 0 + UC 26 = 26; "By Regional Directors" 36 vs 3 + 27 = 30; "Withdrawn before request ruled upon" 2 vs 0 + 8 = 8 (footnote 2 explains the AC/UC columns count "situations" rather than cases, which may account for part of the discrepancy, but the 2 vs 8 row in particular looks like a possible misprint). "Decisions issued after hearing" and "Review of Regional Directors' decisions:" and "Regional Directors' decisions:" are label-only rows with no values printed; their value cells are empty. Row labels use a typographic right single quote in the original ("Directors'"), rendered here as a plain apostrophe. The caption carries footnote marker 1, which is recorded with the caption and omitted from the grid per instructions. All cells are crisp and legible; nothing is cut off by the crop.
