  1. 1 See Glossary of terms for definitions. Data in this table are based on unfair labor practice cases that were closed during Fiscal Year 2007 after the company and/or union had satisfied all remedial action requirements.
  2. 2 A single case usually results in more than one remedial action, therefore, the total number of actions exceeds the number of cases involved.

168 of 179 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out. 6 cells break a sum: 'Backpay distributed', column 3: prints 1,627, columns 4 to 8 add to 1,637; 'Backpay (includes all monetary', column 3: prints 116,798,126, columns 4 to 8 add to 116,763,126; 'Collective bargaining begun', column 9: prints 125, columns 10 to 14 add to 124; 'A. By number of cases involved', column 2: prints 9,187, the subtotals in columns 3 to 9 add to 0; 'Backpay distributed', column 2: prints 1,699, the subtotals in columns 3 to 9 add to 1,689; 'C. By amounts of monetary reco', column 7: prints 27,212,309, rows 'Backpay (includes al' to 'Reimbursement of fee' add to 27,177,309.

Reader’s notes

p. 131. The crop cuts the table off after the row "Other remedies": the table's later sections (the usual "B. By number of employees involved..." block) and the printed footnote texts are not on this image, so `footnotes` is empty even though footnote markers 1 (in the caption) and 2 (in the body) are used. In the "Total all" column of row "A. By number of cases involved" the figure is printed with a small raised 2 BEFORE the number ("2 9,187"); I read it as the footnote marker and transcribed it as 9,187^2. Many body cells hold a short dash rule ("--") rather than a figure (the Union columns for employer-only remedies and the Employer columns for union-only remedies, and the whole of row A); per instructions these are transcribed as empty strings. The heading over column 5 is printed "Recommen-dation of administrative law judge" in the Employer panel and "Recommen -dation of administrative law judge" in the Union panel; both are joined to "Recommendation of administrative law judge". Column spanner dashes in "Remedial action taken by-", "Pursuant to-" and "Order of-" are printed as en dashes. No values were doubtful; the column rules are crisp and every figure sits clearly under one column.

p. 132. 14 columns: stub, "Total all", six Employer columns, six Union columns. The page is a continuation ("—Continued") beginning with section B; section A and the footnote text for the caption's marker 1 are on the preceding page and are not printed on this crop, so `footnotes` is empty. Many cells print a short double-hyphen dash rule ("--") meaning not applicable (the whole Union block for the employer-only rows, and the whole Employer block for "Hiring hall rights restored" and "Objections to employment withdrawn"). Per the dash-rule convention these are transcribed as "" and are distinct from the printed zeros, which are kept as 0. The Union side's heading is typeset "Recommen-dation of administrative law judge" (hyphen break after "Recommen") while the Employer side reads "Recommen-dation"; both are joined to "Recommendation of administrative law judge". Row labels broken by end-of-line hyphens were rejoined: "reinstate-ment", "prefe-rential". All printed row and column sums check out arithmetically (e.g. 19,820+15+562+7,552+1,610 = 29,559 and 29,559+262 = 29,821), so no misprints are suspected. No cells were illegible.

p. 133. 14 columns: stub, "Total all", then six Employer columns and six Union columns. Printed-value problems, all transcribed exactly as printed: 1. Row "C. By amounts of monetary recovery, total", column "Total all": printed as "124,365.988" with a decimal point where the thousands comma belongs. It is certainly a misprint for 124,365,988, which is exactly the sum of the Employer total (123,526,342) and the Union total (839,646) printed beside it. I did not correct it. 2. Row "Backpay (includes all monetary payments except fees, dues, and fines)", column Employer / "Board": I read "27,151,746", but the arithmetic says it should be 27,186,746. Two independent checks are each short by exactly 35,000: (a) the Backpay row's five Employer components sum to 116,763,126 against a printed Employer Total of 116,798,126; (b) the Employer "Board" column adds 27,151,746 + 25,563 = 27,177,309 against a printed section total of 27,212,309. Every other row and column in the table cross-foots exactly, so this single cell is the likely culprit — either a misprint in the source or a misreading of "8" as "5" and "6" as "1" at this scan resolution. Transcribed as read; a re-check against the page at higher magnification is worth doing. 3. The crop shows only section C of the table; sections A and B appear on the preceding page(s), and footnote marker 2 is referenced from those earlier sections, not from any text visible here. Label wording: the third row label is set as "Reimbursement of fees, dues, and fines" with no space after the second comma; I restored the space. The second row label wraps over four printed lines and is joined here. Headings: "Recommen-dation of administrative law judge" is hyphenated across lines differently on the two halves of the table ("Recommen-" / "dation of" under Employer, "Recommen" / "-dation of" under Union); both are repaired to "Recommendation of administrative law judge". The Employer and Union "Total" columns and the stub heading "Action taken" are tall cells spanning heading levels 3-5 and 1-5 respectively, and are repeated in each level they span.
