  2. 2 See Table 1Afor totals by types of cases.
  3. 3 See Table 1B for totals by types of cases.
  4. * Totals for cases pending Oct. 1, 2007, differ from last year's annual report. Revised totals result from postreport adjustments to last year's "on docket" and/or "closed figures."

145 of 145 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 121. Seven columns: stub, Total, and five columns under the spanning heading "Identification of filing party". "Total" is a tall single heading repeated in both heading levels; the stub heading is blank in both levels. The six centred section lines ("All Cases", "Unfair labor practice cases", "Representation cases", "Union-shop deauthorization cases", "Amendment of certification cases", "Unit clarification cases") carry no values; their value cells are empty. Each section repeats the same five row labels. In the "Union-shop deauthorization cases" block the five columns AFL-CIO Unions, Other National Unions, Other local Unions and Employers print a short dash "--" in all five rows (only the Individuals column carries figures, equal to the Total). Per the dash rule these dash-only cells are transcribed as empty strings; the distinction from a truly blank cell is therefore not preserved in the grid. Footnote 2 is printed without a space between "1A" and "for" ("See Table 1Afor totals by types of cases."); transcribed as printed. The asterisk footnote ("* Totals for cases pending Oct. 1, 2007, differ ...") has no visible asterisk marker anywhere in the table body or headings on this crop; it also refers to cases pending Oct. 1, 2007, whereas the body rows are dated Oct. 1, 2006 and Sept. 30, 2007 — likely carried over from the prior year's report. Footnote marker 1 is attached to the caption ("Fiscal Year 2007^1"), which is excluded from the grid per instructions. All arithmetic was checked: within every section the five filing-party columns sum to Total, "On docket" equals "Pending October 1, 2006" plus "Received", and "Pending September 30, 2007" equals "On docket" minus "Closed", in every column. No printed figure is inconsistent.
