Reader’s notes
p. 181. The table is printed as two blocks stacked vertically, each with its own heading band over the same 10-column grid. The first block carries one row ("Under Sec. 10(e) total"); the second block carries the remaining seven rows. Per the one-table rule the heading rows are given once, transcribed from the first (upper) block; the second block's heading band is word-for-word identical except that "District Court" replaces "Appellate Court" in three headings, i.e. "Pending in District Court Oct. 01, 2005", "Filed in District Court fiscal year 2006^1" and "Pending in District Court Sept. 30, 2006". Readers should therefore take the court named in the heading as Appellate for the 10(e) row and District for the 10(j) and 10(l) rows. A superscript footnote marker 1 is printed on the second block's "Filed in District Court fiscal year 2006" heading, but the footnote text itself is not visible: the crop ends immediately below the "8(b)(4)(B)" row, so any footnote and any further rows beneath it are cut off. The stub column has no printed heading in either block. All printed figures are internally consistent (pending + filed = total proceedings; granted + denied + settled + withdrawn = total dispositions; the four 8(a) component rows sum to the Sec. 10(j) total in every column), so no misprint is suspected. No cell was doubtful or illegible.
