Reader’s notes

p. 117. Seven columns: stub, Total, and the five columns under "Identification of filing party". The table has no stub heading printed; the "Total" heading spans both heading levels. The six centred section lines ("All Cases", "Unfair labor practice cases^2", "Representation cases^3", "Union-shop deauthorization cases", "Amendment of certification cases", "Unit clarification cases") are printed across the data columns as band headings; they are given as label-only rows. The Total cell of the first data row is printed "*15,866", with the asterisk ahead of the digits; it is taken as a footnote marker and written 15,866^*. The asterisk's footnote text is not visible in this crop. In the "Union-shop deauthorization cases" panel, the AFL-CIO Unions, Other National Unions, Other local Unions and Employers cells each hold a printed double dash ("--"), rendered as empty cells per the dash rule. Footnote area is cut off by the crop: only footnote 1 is fully printed, and the marker of footnote 2 is partly visible on the last line; footnotes 2, 3 and the asterisk footnote are not legible here. All rows are internally consistent (the five filing-party columns sum to the printed Total in every data row, and the five case-type panels sum to the "All Cases" panel), so no misprints are suspected.
