Reader’s notes

p. 104. Seven columns: stub plus Total and the five "Identification of filing party" columns. The stub column has no printed heading, so cell 0 of both heading levels is empty; "Total" is a tall heading spanning both levels and is repeated. The six centered band labels ("All Cases", "Unfair labor practice cases2", "Representation cases3", "Union-shop deauthorization cases", "Amendment of certification cases", "Unit clarification cases") are printed across the data columns, not in the stub; they are transcribed as label-only section rows with empty value cells. "All Cases / Pending October 1, 2004" is printed as "*18,318" — the asterisk precedes the figure and is treated as a footnote marker, transcribed as "18,318^*". No text for the "*" marker is printed within this crop. In the "Union-shop deauthorization cases" band, the AFL-CIO Unions, Other National Unions, Other local Unions and Employers cells all hold a short double-hyphen dash rule ("--"); these are rendered as empty cells per the dash-rule convention. The crop is cut off just below the first footnote: the top of the superscript "2" of the next footnote line is visible at the bottom edge, so the texts of footnotes 2 and 3 (markers used on "Unfair labor practice cases" and "Representation cases") are not captured on this image. All row and column arithmetic checks out as printed: each band's Total column equals the sum of its five filing-party columns, On docket = Pending Oct 1 + Received, and the five case-type bands sum to the "All Cases" band. No misprints detected.
