1,172 of 1,172 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 210. 17 columns: stub, "All cases", eight unfair-labor-practice columns (All C cases, CA, CB, CC, CD, CE, CG, CP), four representation columns (All R cases, RC, RM, RD), then UD, AC and UC. The three rightmost columns carry their full names in the upper header band and their code letters (UD, AC, UC) on a third header line; the other column codes occupy the middle band only, so they are repeated down to the third level. Typesetting inconsistency, transcribed as printed: in the "All C cases" column four-digit values are printed WITHOUT a digit-grouping comma — "2354" (Special Trade Contractors), "3069" (Construction), "1156" (31-Manufacturing) — while the same magnitudes in neighbouring columns do carry commas ("2,854", "3,661", "1,359", "2,040"). No digits were altered. Summary/aggregate lines (Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing, and Hunting; Mining; Construction; 31-Manufacturing) are printed indented under their component industries; the indentation is not reproduced in the labels. "Utilities" is likewise printed indented and set off by rules, but it is a single-line group with no components listed above it. All row arithmetic was checked and is internally consistent (C components sum to All C cases, R components to All R cases, and All C + All R + UD + AC + UC to All cases) for every row on this page. The table is a multi-page table ("Page 1 of 5" in the caption); the body continues beyond this crop, the last row shown being "Petroleum and Coal Products Manufacturing". No row or value appears cut off at the right or bottom edge of this crop.

p. 211. The crop is page 2 of 5 of Table 5, so the body continues from the preceding page and runs on to the next; the rows shown here begin mid-table (no opening section label) and end with "Gasoline Stations", immediately above the footnotes. Header structure: two printed levels. "Unfair labor practice cases" spans the eight columns All C cases / CA / CB / CC / CD / CE / CG / CP; "Representation cases" spans All R cases / RC / RM / RD. The stub ("Industrial Group^2") and "All cases" are tall single headings occupying both levels, so they are repeated. The last three columns print the long heading on the upper level ("Union deauthorization cases", "Amendment of certification cases", "Unit clarification cases") and the code on the lower level (UD, AC, UC); the long headings are hyphen-broken in print ("deauthor- ization", "Amend- ment", "certifica- tion", "clari- fication") and have been rejoined. Thousands commas are inconsistent in the original and are transcribed as printed: "All C cases" shows 1558, 3273 and 1121 without a comma, while neighbouring four-digit values in other columns (1,807; 1,251; 3,693; 2,378; 1,237; 1,040) carry one. All row arithmetic checks out as transcribed (component C columns sum to All C cases, and All C + All R + UD + AC + UC equals All cases in every row, including the 32-Manufacturing, 33-Manufacturing and Wholesale Trade subtotal lines), so no suspected misprints in the figures. Subtotal rows ("32-Manufacturing", "33-Manufacturing", "Wholesale Trade") are printed indented and set off by heavier rules; their labels are given as printed. No cells were illegible.

p. 212. 17 columns: stub plus All cases, eight C-case columns (All C cases, CA, CB, CC, CD, CE, CG, CP), four R-case columns (All R cases, RC, RM, RD), UD, AC, UC. The header is three levels: the spanners (Unfair labor practice cases, Representation cases) over level 2, and the short codes UD/AC/UC printed on a third level under the three tall right-hand headings; "Industrial Group" and "All cases" run the full height of the header box and are repeated in all three levels. This crop is page 3 of 5 of Table 5 (the caption line, omitted per instructions, reads "—Page 3 of 5"). The table continues on the next page, so the body has no grand-total row here, and the "44-Retail Trade" subtotal (second row) covers component rows that mostly appear on the previous page — only "Clothing and Clothing Accessories Stores" of that group is printed on this image. The group subtotal rows are indented in the original and keep their printed form ("44-Retail Trade", "45-Retail Trade", "48-Transportation", "49-Transportation"). Typesetting inconsistency transcribed as printed: in the subtotal rows the "All C cases" figures are set without a thousands comma (1390, 1817, 2436, 3028) while the neighbouring "All cases" and "CA" figures in the same rows carry commas (1,644 / 2,215 / 3,163 and 1,245 / 1,716 / 2,153). Nothing was normalized. Every row and every subtotal row on this image is internally additive (C + R + UD + AC + UC = All cases; CA..CP = All C cases; RC+RM+RD = All R cases), and each of the four subtotals equals the sum of the component rows shown above it (except 44-Retail Trade, whose components begin on the preceding page), so no misprints are suspected. The last row's label wraps onto two printed lines ("Information Services and Data Processing / Services") and is joined here. No cells were illegible.

p. 213. 17 columns: stub, "All cases", eight unfair-labor-practice columns, four representation columns, and the UD/AC/UC columns. The three right-hand headings ("Union deauthorization cases", "Amendment of certification cases", "Unit clarification cases") are printed above a short rule with their codes UD/AC/UC beneath; I mapped the heading to level 1 and the code to level 2. "Industrial Group^2" and "All cases" are tall single headings repeated in both levels. The crop is page 4 of 5 of a continuing table, so it has no first rows and no total line, and no footnote text is printed beneath it even though superscript markers 1 (in the caption, which is omitted) and 2 (on the stub heading) appear. Printing quirk, transcribed as printed and not normalized: in the "All C cases" column the four-digit values carry no digit-grouping comma (1201, 1454, 1904, 1236, 1268), while the same magnitudes in "All cases" and "CA" do (1,366; 1,828; 2,418; 1,053; 1,456; 1,082). Several row labels wrap over two printed lines and were joined: "Securities, Commodity Contracts and Other Intermediation and Related Activities"; "Funds, Trusts and Other Financial Vehicles (U.S. Only)"; "Owners and Lessors of Other Non-Financial Assets"; "Administrative and Support, Waste Management and Remediation Services". "Monetary Authorities—Central Bank" uses an em dash as printed. Indentation distinguishing sector subtotal rows ("Information", "Finance and Insurance", "Real Estate and Rental and Leasing", "Professional, Scientific and Technical Services", "Management of Companies and Enterprises", "Administrative and Support, Waste Management and Remediation Services", "Educational Services") is not carried into the labels. Every row cross-foots as printed: the CA–CP cells sum to "All C cases", RC+RM+RD sum to "All R cases", and All C + All R + UD + AC + UC equal "All cases"; the subtotal rows also equal the sum of the detail rows above them. No misprints found.

p. 214. 17 columns: stub plus 16 data columns. The three rightmost columns carry a tall spanning heading ("Union deauthorization cases", "Amendment of certification cases", "Unit clarification cases") with the abbreviations UD, AC, UC printed below them on a lower line; I have folded those abbreviations into the second heading level, where the other columns' abbreviations sit. Typesetting inconsistency, transcribed as printed: four values are printed without the digit-grouping comma used elsewhere in the same columns — "3122" (Health Care and Social Assistance, All C cases), "26880" (Total, All C cases), "4588" (Total, All R cases). Compare "2,582", "19,935", "3,608" in neighbouring cells. Row-label indentation distinguishes detail lines from sector subtotals; the indented subtotal lines are "Health Care and Social Assistance", "Arts, Entertainment and Recreation", "Accommodation and Foodservices", "Other Services (except Public Administration)", "Public Administration" and "Unclassified Establishments". Indentation is not preserved in the cell text. All cross-footings I checked are internally consistent as printed (e.g. the Total row: 19,935+6,191+440+155+29+30+100 = 26,880, and 26,880+4,588+127+17+165 = 31,777), so I found no suspected misprints in the numbers. The caption identifies this as page 5 of 5 of Table 5; column headings are printed on this page and are transcribed. No part of the grid appears cut off by the crop.
