p. 198. Seven columns: stub, Total, and five columns under the spanner "Identification of filing party" (AFL–CIO Unions, Other National Unions, Other local Unions, Individuals, Employers). The stub column has no printed heading, and "Total" is a tall heading spanning both heading levels, so it is repeated in each. The six section lines ("All Cases", "Unfair labor practice cases", "Representation cases", "Union-shop deauthorization cases", "Amendment of certification cases", "Unit clarification cases") are printed centered across the data columns rather than in the stub column; they are given here as label-only rows. The five row labels (Pending October 1, 2003 / Received fiscal 2004 / On docket fiscal 2004 / Closed fiscal 2004 / Pending September 30, 2004) repeat identically within each of the six sections. In the "Union-shop deauthorization cases" section, the four union/employer columns each print a short double-hyphen dash ("--") rather than a figure; following the dash-rule convention these are transcribed as empty cells. The distinction matters for a reader: those cells are "not applicable", not blank omissions, and they are distinct from the printed zeros that appear in the amendment-of-certification and unit-clarification sections. In the "All Cases / Pending October 1, 2003" row the Total cell is printed as "*22,120" with the asterisk ahead of the figure; the asterisk is the marker for the starred footnote about revised prior-year totals, so it is written as 22,120^*. The caption carries a superscript 1 (footnote 1), "Unfair labor practice cases" a superscript 2, and "Representation cases" a superscript 3. All arithmetic checks pass: in every row the five filing-party columns sum to the Total column, and the five case-type sections sum to the "All Cases" section for each of the five line items. No misprints detected. The crop is complete — caption, body, and all four footnotes are visible, and nothing is cut off.
