Reader’s notes

p. 199. Two printed columns only: the stub ("Stage") and "Median days". The roman numerals I. and II. are set in a hanging position at the far left of the stub column, not in a separate column, so they are kept as part of the row label; the A./B./C., 1.-8. and a./b. levels are indentation only and are likewise kept in the label. Possible misprint in the source: the caption dates the pending-case counts September 30, 2003, but every "Age of cases pending ..." section head inside the table (I.B, I.C, II.B, II.C) reads "September 30, 2002". Transcribed as printed. Row I.C.1 "From filing of charge" is printed as 1030 with no digit-grouping comma; transcribed as printed. Apostrophes are typographic in most labels but appear straight in row I.B ("judge's"); all are transcribed as a plain apostrophe. Row II.C is the only lettered section head that carries a value (155); its leader dots run to the figure, so the value clearly belongs to that line and there is no separate numbered row beneath it. The crop ends just below the table's bottom rule, where the caption of Table 24 begins; that caption line is excluded per instructions. No footnotes are printed under this table (the superscript 1 visible at the end of the Table 24 caption belongs to the following table).
