Reader’s notes
p. 194. 23 columns: stub, two "Total" columns that span all three heading levels, then five outcome blocks of four columns each (Fiscal Year 2003 Number/Percent, Cumulative fiscal years 1998-2002 Number/Percent). The two "Total" headings read "Total fiscal year 2003" and "Total fiscal years 1998-2002" (the latter printed with a hyphen breaking across lines, "1998-/2002", whereas the block headings use an en dash, "1998-2002"); both are transcribed as printed. Verification: in all 22 numeric columns the twelve circuit rows sum exactly to the "Total all circuits" line (e.g. FY2003 totals sum to 120, 1998-2002 totals to 469, affirmed-in-full cumulative to 310), which confirms every value sits under the right column. Possible rounding/typesetting quirks, transcribed exactly as printed and not corrected: New Orleans, LA cumulative "Affirmed in full" percent is printed 42.8 (3/7 = 42.9); Chicago, IL cumulative "Affirmed in full" percent is printed 66.6 (24/36 = 66.7); Atlanta, GA cumulative "Set aside" percent is printed 17.8 (5/28 = 17.9). These appear to be truncated rather than rounded. The stub label "Denver, CO." is printed with a trailing period, unlike the other state abbreviations; kept as printed.
