Reader’s notes
p. 122. The table has 15 columns; the four header levels are the three top spanners (Number of polls / Employees involved (number eligible to vote) / Valid votes cast), then the mid spanners, with the tall single headings (Total, Total eligible, Total, Percent of total eligible) repeated down every level they occupy. Suspected misprint: in the row "Other local unions", the cell under "Number of polls > Resulting in deauthorization > Number" is printed as "0.0" rather than an integer "0"; it is transcribed as printed. The footnote line is clipped by the bottom edge of the crop — only the upper half of the letters is visible, so its wording (particularly the statute citation "Sec. 8(a)(3)") is a best reading and should be verified against the page. The caption carries a raised footnote marker 1, which is recorded with the caption and so is not reproduced here. All column totals in the "Total" row equal the sum of the three affiliation rows as printed.
