1,215 of 1,215 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 99. The crop shows only the first page of the table: the body is cut off after "Chemical Manufacturing" and no footnote block is printed on this image, so `footnotes` is empty even though footnote markers appear in the caption (^1) and in the stub heading "Industrial Group^2". Seventeen columns: stub, "All cases", eight unfair-labor-practice columns, four representation columns, and the three single-column groups whose tall headings sit above the code line UD / AC / UC. Numbers in the "All cases" column are printed without digit-grouping commas (e.g. "3423", "4625", "1268", "1812"); transcribed as printed. Indented rows ("Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing, and Hunting", "Mining", "Construction", "31-Manufacturing") are subtotal lines; "Utilities" is printed as its own ruled single-industry line. All printed subtotals and the row identity All cases = All C + All R + UD + AC + UC check out arithmetically, which supports the column alignment. No illegible or doubtful cells.

p. 100. This is a continuation page of Table 5 (the caption carries "—Continued"); the table begins on an earlier page and is cut off at the bottom of this crop — "General Merchandise Stores" is the last fully printed row and the body continues on the following page. No footnote texts are printed on this crop, although footnote markers 1 (caption) and 2 ("Industrial Group") appear. 17 columns: stub, "All cases", eight unfair-labor-practice columns (All C cases, CA, CB, CC, CD, CE, CG, CP), four representation columns (All R cases, RC, RM, RD), and the three single columns UD, AC, UC. The headings "Union deauthorization cases", "Amendment of certification cases" and "Unit clarification cases" sit above a rule, with UD / AC / UC below it, so each is repeated in the first two heading levels. The subtotal row labelled "Wholesale Trade" (970, 763, ...) is printed without a numeric prefix, unlike the neighbouring subtotals "32-Manufacturing", "33-Manufacturing" and "44-Retail Trade"; at this resolution I can see no "42-" before it, but the row is indented slightly more than the other subtotals, so a faint prefix cannot be fully ruled out. Every subtotal row and every row's component columns were checked arithmetically (CA+CB+CC+CD+CE+CG+CP = All C cases; RC+RM+RD = All R cases; All C + All R + UD + AC + UC = All cases) and all of them balance, including the 32-Manufacturing, 33-Manufacturing, Wholesale Trade and 44-Retail Trade subtotals. No misprints detected.

p. 101. Continuation page: the caption carries "—Continued" and the table runs past the bottom of the crop (the body ends mid-section with "Insurance Carriers and Related Activities"; no total line and no footnote block are printed on this image, so `footnotes` is empty even though markers 1 and 2 appear in the caption and stub heading). Header: 17 columns. "Industrial Group^2" and "All cases" are tall cells spanning all three heading levels; "All C cases" through "RD" span the lower two levels under the spanner bands "Unfair labor practice cases" and "Representation cases"; the three right-hand columns print "Union deauthor-/ization cases", "Amend-/ment of certifica-/tion cases" and "Unit clari-/fication cases" over a rule, with "UD", "AC", "UC" on the third level (end-of-line hyphens repaired). Subtotal row labels: the indented group lines read "45-Retail Trade", "48-Transportation", "49-Transportation" and then simply "Information" — the fourth is set at the same indent as the other subtotals but is printed without a NAICS number prefix (one would expect "51-Information"). Transcribed exactly as printed; likely a typesetting omission in the source. Note also that both the 48- and 49- group lines are labelled "Transportation" in the source. Arithmetic consistency check (not used to alter any cell): every data row's CA+CB+CC+CD+CE+CG+CP equals its "All C cases", RC+RM+RD equals "All R cases", and All C + All R + UD + AC + UC equals "All cases"; each of the four subtotal rows also equals the column sum of the data rows above it. All checks pass, which supports the digit readings and column alignment.

p. 102. 17 columns: stub, "All cases", eight unfair-labor-practice columns (All C cases, CA, CB, CC, CD, CE, CG, CP), four representation columns (All R cases, RC, RM, RD), and the three single columns UD, AC, UC. The three right-hand columns carry a two-part heading ("Union deauthorization cases" over "UD", etc.), which is why a third heading level is given; "Industrial Group^2" and "All cases" span all three levels, as do the UFP/representation spanners down to level 2. This is a "—Continued" page, so the table body starts mid-section: the "Finance and Insurance" row (second row) is an indented sector subtotal whose component industry rows are printed on the preceding page, and likewise the first printed row, "Funds, Trusts and Other Financial Vehicles (U.S. Only)", is a continuation of that sector's detail. Indentation distinguishes detail rows (flush left) from sector subtotal rows (indented): Finance and Insurance; Real Estate and Rental and Leasing; Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; Management of Companies and Enterprises; Administrative and Support, Waste Management and Remediation Services; Educational Services; Health Care and Social Assistance; Arts, Entertainment and Recreation; Accommodation and Foodservices. Indentation is not reproduced in the cells. Note that "Professional, Scientific and Technical Services", "Management of Companies and Enterprises" and "Educational Services" are printed in the indented subtotal position (each sector has a single industry), so they appear once rather than as a detail row plus subtotal. No footnotes are printed below the table on this crop; the markers in the caption (2002^1) and the stub head (Industrial Group^2) refer to notes printed elsewhere (the caption itself is excluded per instructions, and the stub marker is retained as "Industrial Group^2"). Numbers are printed without digit-grouping commas throughout (e.g. "1711", "3907"), and are transcribed that way. All row and column sums were checked and are internally consistent: every row's "All C cases" equals CA+CB+CC+CD+CE+CG+CP, "All R cases" equals RC+RM+RD, "All cases" equals All C + All R + UD + AC + UC, and each subtotal row equals the sum of the detail rows above it on this page (Real Estate and Rental and Leasing = rows 3-5; Administrative and Support, Waste Management... = rows 9-10; Health Care and Social Assistance = rows 13-16; Arts, Entertainment and Recreation = rows 18-20; Accommodation and Foodservices = rows 22-23). No misprints detected. No cells were illegible.

p. 103. This is a continuation page of Table 5 (the caption carries "—Continued"); the rows above "Repair and Maintenance" are on earlier pages. Column headings are printed on this page, so they are given. Footnote text is cut off at the bottom edge of the crop: only the upper halves of the letters of footnote 1 are visible, and I read it as "1 See Glossary of terms for definitions." — treat the exact wording as uncertain. The text of footnote 2 (the marker on the stub heading "Industrial Group") is not visible on this crop at all. In the "Total, all industrial groups" row the printed figures are inconsistent in digit grouping: 35,872 / 30,178 / 23,036 carry commas, but 6269, 5299 and 4252 are printed without a comma. Transcribed exactly as printed. All column and row sums in the body check out internally (e.g. the "Other Services (except Public Administration)" and "Public Administration" subtotals equal the sum of their component lines), which supports the column assignment.
