Reader’s notes

p. 200. Two printed columns: the stub ("Stage") and "Median days". The stub is typeset with hanging indents — the outline markers (I., II.; A., B., C.; 1.–8.; a., b.) sit in their own indent positions to the left of the text, but no column rule separates them, so each marker is kept with its label in cell 0. Section lines that carry no value (I., II., their "A. Major stages completed—" lines, I.B, I.C, II.A.6 and II.B) have an empty value cell; note that II.C ("Age of cases pending Regional Director's decision, September 30, 2001") does carry a value, 73, unlike the parallel I.B/I.C/II.B heads. Apostrophes are printed as curly typographic apostrophes in most labels but appear straight in "administrative law judge's decision" at I.B; all are transcribed as a plain apostrophe. No footnotes are printed under the table. The caption of the following table ("Table 24.—NLRB Activity Under the Equal Access to Justice Act, FY 2001") is clipped at the bottom of the crop and is excluded. All 34 body rows are legible; no doubtful digits.
