Reader’s notes
p. 167. Suspected misprint: in the row "Other national unions", the column "Number of polls / Resulting in deauthorization / Number" is printed as "0.0" rather than a whole count ("0"); it is transcribed as printed. The companion count column under "Employees involved / In polls / Resulting in deauthorization / Number" in that same row reads a plain "0", and the column totals (9 + 0 + 3 = 12) are consistent with a value of zero there. The table has four header levels. Several headings are tall single cells repeated down the levels they span: "Total" (under Number of polls), "Total eligible", and "Total" and "Percent of total eligible" (under Valid votes cast). Note that under "Valid votes cast" the percent columns are headed "Percent of total eligible", whereas the percent columns under "Number of polls" and "Employees involved" are headed "Percent of total". The footnote line is clipped by the bottom edge of the crop (the descenders of the last line are cut), but the whole sentence is legible; no further footnotes appear to be present. All printed row and column totals cross-check correctly.
