  1. 1 See Glossary of terms for definitions.
  2. 2 The States are grouped according to the 10 Standard Federal Administrative Regions.

763 of 763 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 152. The crop cuts the table off after the Louisiana row (the Region VI block and subsequent regions/US total continue on the next image); no footnote texts are printed on this crop, although footnote marker 1 appears on the caption and marker 2 on the stub heading "Standard Federal Regions". Seventeen columns: stub, "All cases", eight "Unfair labor practice cases" columns (All C cases, CA, CB, CC, CD, CE, CG, CP), four "Representation cases" columns (All R cases, RC, RM, RD), then UD, AC and UC. The headings "Union deauthorization cases", "Amendment of certification cases" and "Unit clarification cases" are tall two-level headings sitting above the single-letter codes UD/AC/UC; the stub heading, "All cases" and the code columns are repeated across the heading levels they span. Typesetting quirk, transcribed as printed: in the region subtotal rows the "All C cases" figures (1616, 4836, 2827, 3384, 6659) and the Region V "All R cases" figure (1260) are printed without digit-grouping commas, while the neighbouring columns in the same rows (e.g. 1,916 and 1,351) do carry commas. All sixteen value columns of every region subtotal row (Regions I-V) were checked against the sum of their member states and agree exactly, which supports the column alignment and digit reading throughout. "District Of Columbia" is printed with a capital O.

p. 153. Continuation page: the table begins on an earlier page, so the Region VI block here shows only its last three States (New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas) while the printed "Region VI" line is the full regional total including States listed on the previous page — its components therefore do not add to the subtotal within this crop. Regions VII through X are complete on this page and every row and column in them foots exactly to the printed subtotals, as does the arithmetic within each State row. The three narrow right-hand columns carry a two-level heading (spelled-out name above, code UD / AC / UC below); the code line is given as the third header level and the wider left-hand headings are repeated down into it because no rule cuts them off. "All C cases" and "All R cases" are each printed on two lines and have been joined. No cells were illegible.
