Reader’s notes
p. 186. 12 columns: stub + 5 "Number of proceedings" + 4 "Percentages" + 2 cumulative. The stub column has no printed heading, so the stub cell is empty in all three heading levels. The cumulative heading is printed on two stacked lines ("July 5, 1937" over "Sept. 30, 2000"), joined here; it spans the top two heading levels. Row "Court orders denying petition" appears misaligned in the original: the cells after the four leading values are printed as "6.5" sitting under the "Board dismissal" (number) column and "0.0" under "Percentages / Vs. employers only", with the remaining five cells dashes. Values are transcribed in the columns where they are printed. Arithmetic suggests the intended row is Board dismissal = 0, Pct vs. employers = 6.5 (2/31) and Pct vs. unions = 0.0 (0/8), i.e. the printed cells are shifted one column to the left in the percentage block; the row as printed also has only 11 values because of this. Other apparent inconsistencies in the source, transcribed as printed: "Remanded to Board" shows Total 7 but Vs. employers only 6; "Board orders partially affirmed and partially remanded" shows Total 5 but Vs. employers only 6 (the Vs.-employers column sums to 98 and the Total column to 99, matching the section line).
