p. 172. Fifteen columns, two heading levels. The spanner "Number of elections in which representation rights were won by unions" covers columns 2-5 (Total, AFL-CIO unions, Other national unions, Other local unions) and "Valid votes cast for unions" covers columns 9-12 (same four sub-headings); the tall single headings (Total elections; Number of elections in which no representative was chosen; Number of employees eligible to vote; Total valid votes cast; Total votes for no union; Eligible employees in units choosing representation) are repeated in both levels, as is the stub heading. The last heading is printed as "Eligible employ-ees in units choos-ing rep-resentati on" and is joined here to "Eligible employees in units choosing representation". Footnote markers are printed in the caption ("Elections^1") and in the stub heading ("Division and State^2"), but no footnote text appears under the table in this crop; the notes are presumably printed on another page. Suspected source anomaly, not a transcription error: in the Utah row, "Number of employees eligible to vote" is 839 while "Total valid votes cast" is 889, i.e. more votes cast than employees eligible. Both readings are corroborated by the Mountain subtotals, which add up exactly with these figures (eligible 2,110+1,500+170+526+3,494+740+839+409 = 9,788; votes cast ... +889+396 = 8,489), so the printed figures are transcribed as they stand. Every other row and every division subtotal checks internally (won-by-union components sum to their Total, Total won + no representative = Total elections, union votes + no-union votes = Total valid votes cast, and the five division subtotals equal the sums of their state rows), which supports the column alignment. The crop shows only five divisions (East North Central, East South Central, Middle Atlantic, Mountain, New England) in alphabetical order and no United States grand total, so the table continues on following pages. Section/subtotal rows are indented in the original; indentation is not reproduced in the cell text.

The crop is a continuation page: it carries the full column headings but the body is cut off at the bottom — the last printed row visible is "North Dakota", and the table (the West North Central division and its subtotal, plus any further divisions and the U.S. total) continues onto the following page. No footnote texts are printed under the table on this crop, although superscript markers appear (a "1" on "Collective-Bargaining Elections" in the caption, which is excluded, and a "2" on the stub heading "Division and State"), so the footnote definitions must be on another page. Indented rows "Outlying Areas", "Pacific" and "South Atlantic" are division subtotal lines (set off by rules above and below); they are transcribed as ordinary rows with their values. Internal checks are consistent: for each subtotal row the "Valid votes cast for unions — Total" equals AFL-CIO + other national + other local, and the Outlying Areas, Pacific and South Atlantic subtotals equal the sums of their member rows, so column alignment appears correct. The last two columns are narrow and closely spaced ("Total votes for no union" and "Eligible employees in units choosing representation"); their values were read from the printed column rules and are believed correct. The stub heading's final word is broken across lines as "rep- resentati on" and is joined here as "representation". "District Of Columbia" is transcribed with the capital "O" as printed.

This is the final page of a continued table (caption reads "--Continued"), so the body begins mid-list: "South Dakota" is the last State of the West North Central division, whose earlier States appear on the preceding page. The indented rows "West North Central" and "West South Central" are division subtotals and "Total, all States and areas" is the grand total; they are indented in the original but no separate stub level is printed. The last column heading is printed broken across lines as "Eligible employ-/ees in/units/choos-/ing rep-/resentati/on" and is joined here as "Eligible employees in units choosing representation". All 15 columns were read from the printed column rules; internal arithmetic checks (union sub-totals summing to totals, union votes plus no-union votes equal to total valid votes) are consistent for every row, so no misprints are suspected. No cells were illegible.
