27 of 30 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out. 1 cell breaks a sum: 'Total', column 10: prints 2,455, rows 'AFL-CIO unions' to 'Other local unions' add to 3,455.

p. 170. 15 columns: stub + 5 under "Number of polls" + 5 under "Employees involved" + 4 under "Valid votes cast". Four heading levels; tall headings ("Total", "Total eligible", "Percent of total eligible") and multi-column headings are repeated per the convention. Doubtful cell: row "AFL-CIO unions", column "Employees involved / In polls / Resulting in continued authorization / Number" reads as 3,357 in the scan and is transcribed as printed, but it is almost certainly 2,357 (a misprint or a scan artifact on the leading digit): the column's other entries sum to the printed total 2,455 only with 2,357 (2,357 + 0 + 98 = 2,455), and 2,357/3,075 = 76.7 percent, the printed percent beside it. All other rows and columns in the table cross-foot exactly. This is a 1-bit 300-ppi scan in which periods render very faintly; the percent columns are printed to one decimal and are transcribed with the decimal point (e.g. "40.0" for what the scan shows as "40 0"). The same applies to "Sec." in the footnote and its terminal period. Cells printed as a dash rule ("----") are given as "": row "Other national unions" under "Number of polls / Resulting in continued authorization / Percent of total" and under "Employees involved / In polls / Resulting in continued authorization / Percent of total". The printed zeros beside them are kept as "0". Stray ink specks appear in the stub column of the heading block and beside the "AFL-CIO unions" label; they are scanning noise, not footnote markers. The caption's footnote marker 1 is on the caption, which is excluded; the marker on "Employees involved (number eligible to vote)^1" is retained.
