Final Outcome of Representation Elections in Cases Closed, Fiscal Year 1997

p. 146. The crop ends in the middle of panel B: the last printed row on this image is "AFL-CIO v. National" of section B, and the table continues on the following page, so no footnote texts are visible here (the caption carries marker 1 and the "Total elections" heading carries marker 2, but their texts are printed elsewhere). The two centred section lines "A. All representation elections" and "B. Elections in RC cases" span the full table width and carry no values. All em-dash rule cells ("——") are rendered as empty strings; printed zeros are kept as 0. Scan speckle leaves small stray marks in a few cells (e.g. a dot beside "13,054" in the Employees-eligible Total column, and a faint mark in the "Other local unions" cell of the "AFL-CIO v. AFL-CIO v. AFL-CIO" row, which I read as a dash rule); neither changes the values. All internal sums and percentages I checked are internally consistent with the printed totals.

p. 147. Continuation page ("—Continued"): the body opens mid-way through part B (elections in RC cases) with no part heading printed above the first row, and it runs off the bottom edge of the crop — part D continues past the last transcribed row ("Other local unions") on the following page. No footnote text is printed on this crop, although markers appear (^1 on the caption, ^2 on "Total elections"). The lines "C. Elections in RM cases" and "D. Elections in RD cases" are printed centred across the data columns rather than in the stub; they are recorded as label-only rows with empty value cells. Throughout the table "none" is set as an em-dash rule (——); per instruction every such cell is transcribed as "". Blank cells and dash-rule cells are therefore indistinguishable in the grid. Specifically, in "Local v. Local" the "Other national unions" cells (both in the Elections-won group and the In-units-won-by group) look blank rather than dash-ruled, and in the final row ("Other local unions", part D) the "AFL-CIO unions" cell under Elections won by unions is faint/clipped at the bottom edge where a dash rule would be expected; all are recorded as "". Stray ink marks, treated as noise and not transcribed: an apostrophe-like mark after "50.6" in the "Total RC elections" percent-won cell; a dot before "2" in the "AFL-CIO v. AFL-CIO" (part C) elections-with-no-representative cell; dots near the zeros in the "3 (or more)-union elections" and "2-union elections" (part C) rows. Row-label capitalisation is kept as printed: part C has "Other National unions" (capital N) while part D has "Other national unions" (lowercase n). All internal arithmetic checks on the transcribed values are consistent (component wins sum to total won, elections won plus no-representative equal total elections, and employee subtotals sum correctly), which supports the column assignments.

This crop is a continuation page ("—Continued") of Table 13; the section heading that identifies these rows as RD elections appears on an earlier page, so the body begins directly with "1-union elections". Column headings are printed on this page and are transcribed above. Doubtful cells: (a) row "1-union elections", column "Percent won" — the scan shows "30 9" with the decimal point dropped out; read as 30.9 on the strength of the column's other entries (50.0, 100.0, 66.7, 100.0, 31.4) and because 124/401 = 30.9 percent. (b) Row "AFL-CIO v. AFL-CIO v. AFL-CIO", column "Employees eligible to vote / In elections won" — printed as ".85" with a stray speck before the digits; read as 85, matching the row's Total of 85 and the "3-union elections" subtotal. (c) Row "1-union elections", column "Other local unions" under "In units won by" — a stray apostrophe-like mark sits in the rule between the "Other national unions" (200) and "Other local unions" (367) cells; it is dirt, not a digit or a footnote marker. Several cells are printed as an em-dash rule ("——") rather than a figure; these are rendered as empty strings, per instruction. They occur in the "AFL-CIO v. Local", "Local v. Local" and "AFL-CIO v. AFL-CIO v. AFL-CIO" rows. No misprints detected: every subtotal and the "Total RD elections" line add correctly down the columns (401+3+1=405; 17,751+581+85=18,417; 9,723+333+0=10,056), and within each row the union-type detail sums to the "Total won" and "In elections won" figures.
