636 of 636 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 124. 17 columns: stub, "All cases", eight unfair-labor-practice columns (All C cases, CA, CB, CC, CD, CE, CG, CP), four representation columns (All R cases, RC, RM, RD), and UD, AC, UC. The last three columns carry a two-level heading ("Union deauthorization cases" / "UD", etc.), so the headings occupy three printed levels; headings that span levels or columns are repeated as instructed. The crop is cut off after the "Construction" total row — the table continues below (further industry groups and any footnotes are not on this image). The caption line at the very top is clipped and was excluded. No footnote text is printed on this crop, so `footnotes` is empty; the superscript 2 on the stub heading "Industrial group" refers to a note printed elsewhere (a footnote 1 presumably attaches to the clipped caption). All numbers were checked against the printed subtotals: every row's C columns sum to its "All C cases", every row's R columns sum to its "All R cases", and the row components sum to "All cases"; the Manufacturing, Mining and Construction total lines also reconcile exactly with their component rows and columns. No misprints found. Minor scan artifacts, none affecting the reading: a stray speck precedes "57" in the RC column of "Lumber and wood products (except furniture)" and "35" in the RD column of "Food and kindred products"; a speck sits beside "8" in the RD column of the Mining total and beside "12" in the All R column of "Mining and quarrying of nonmetallic minerals". The "Manufacturing", "Mining" and "Construction" lines are printed indented and set off by rules as group totals; their labels are transcribed as printed.

p. 125. This is a continuation page: the first four rows (Wholesale trade, Retail trade, Finance insurance and real estate, U.S. Postal Service) are the tail of a section whose heading and preceding members are on the previous page, and no section label is printed above them here. The caption carries footnote marker 1 and the stub heading "Industrial group" carries marker 2; both markers are printed in the caption/heading area, which is otherwise excluded. The table has 17 printed columns; horizontal rules set off two subtotal rows ("Transportation, communication, and other utilities" and "Services"), the "Public administration" row, and the final "Total, all industrial groups" row. These are transcribed as ordinary body rows in place. Every internal check passes: each industry row's C-case components sum to "All C cases", RC+RM+RD sum to "All R cases", the component case types sum to "All cases", and both subtotal rows equal the sum of their member rows. The grand-total row cannot be checked from this crop alone because earlier sections are on the previous page. Scattered printing specks sit beside some figures and are not transcribed as characters: a tick after 817 (Local and suburban transit, All cases), a dot before 58 (Automotive repair, CB), a dot before 1,431 (Business services, CA), a dot before 69 (Membership organizations, RC), a dot in the Hotels row near the AC column, and a dot in the header above the RM column. In the "Local and suburban transit..." row the label wraps onto two lines and is joined here; its values are printed on the second line.
