144 of 144 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.
p. 113. Seven columns: stub, Total, then the five "Identification of filing party" columns. The stub column has no printed heading, so cell 0 of both heading levels is empty; "Total" is a tall heading spanning both levels. The six centered lines that span the body ("All cases", "Unfair labor practice cases2", "Representation cases3", "Union-shop deauthorization cases", "Amendment of certification cases", "Unit clarification cases") are transcribed as section rows with the label in the stub and empty value cells; each is followed by the same five-row block (Pending October 1, 1995 / Received fiscal 1996 / On docket fiscal 1996 / Closed fiscal 1996 / Pending September 30, 1996), so those row labels repeat six times. The asterisk footnote marker is printed to the LEFT of each revised figure (*32,221, *29,729, *2,235, *63, *180); per the marker convention it is transcribed trailing the value as e.g. "32,221^*". All five markers sit in the Total column only, on the "Pending October 1, 1995" rows; the Amendment of certification panel has no asterisk. In the Union-shop deauthorization panel, the AFL-CIO, Other national, Other local and Employers cells hold a printed dash rule ("——"), transcribed as "". Printed zeros in the Amendment of certification and Unit clarification panels are kept as "0". Arithmetic cross-checks all pass, which is reassuring for a 1996 scan: in every panel the five filing-party cells sum to the Total column; Pending October 1 + Received = On docket; and On docket − Closed = Pending September 30, both down the Total column and down each of the five party columns. No internal inconsistency or suspected misprint was found. Minor legibility points, none affecting the reading: the "AFL–CIO unions" heading is set with a dash that scans between a hyphen and an en dash (transcribed "AFL-CIO"); a stray ink speck precedes the stub label "Pending September 30, 1996" in the unfair labor practice panel and precedes the "4" in the Other national unions column of the last row (Unit clarification, Pending September 30, 1996) — both read as page noise, not as characters or markers. Caption, running head and page number omitted as instructed.
