649 of 649 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 141. The crop is a partial table: it ends with the "Construction" line, which is the last fully printed row at the bottom edge of the image; the table continues on the following page(s), and no footnote text is visible in this crop (the markers "1" on the caption and "2" on the stub heading "Industrial group" refer to notes printed elsewhere). The caption reads "Table 5.—Industrial Distribution of Cases Received, Fiscal Year 1995^1" and was omitted as instructed. The scan is a 1-bit image in which "i" characters often lose their dots (e.g. "kindred", "Printing"); labels were transcribed with normal spelling. Column placement was cross-checked arithmetically: every column of the 22 manufacturing industry rows sums exactly to the printed "Manufacturing" subtotal, the four mining rows sum exactly to the printed "Mining" subtotal, and each row's components sum to its printed "All cases" value, so no transcribed figure appears misaligned or misread. One value worth flagging even though it checks out: in the "Measuring, analyzing, and controlling instruments..." row the lone 3 sits in the CE column (CC=0, CD=0, CE=3), which is consistent with the Manufacturing CE total of 7 (1+1+2+3).

p. 142. Continuation page of Table 5; 17 columns (stub + All cases + 8 unfair-labor-practice columns + 4 representation columns + UD, AC, UC). The first four rows (Wholesale trade ... U.S. Postal Service) are indented sub-items of a trade/finance section whose heading and any subtotal fall on the previous page, which is why the crop opens with no section label. The second block of rows ends in the subtotal "Transportation, communication, and other utilities" and the third in "Services"; neither block's section heading is printed on this page. All column arithmetic was checked: every block subtotal and the grand total equal the sum of their component rows in every one of the 16 numeric columns, so column alignment is well corroborated. Minor scan artifacts, none transcribed as content: a stray speck sits between the RD and UD rules on the "Local and suburban transit..." line and on the "Motion pictures" line; a speck sits just left of the CG value on the "Amusement and recreation services" line (the value there is 0); a small mark trails "539" in the All C cases cell of "Finance, insurance, and real estate" (read as a comma-shaped speck, not a digit) and trails the RD value 23 on "Electric, gas, and sanitary services"; a tick appears right of the UC column on the "Services" line. In footnote 2 the character after "Source" is degraded in the scan — probably a period or colon — so it is transcribed with no punctuation. Footnote 1 shows no terminal period.
