255 of 255 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 152. 13 columns. The stub heading and the four left-hand headings ("Number eligible to vote", "Total elections", "Percent of total", "Cumulative percent of total") are single tall boxes spanning all three heading levels and are repeated down the levels; "Elections in which no representative was chosen" spans the top two levels over its two columns. Sub-heading wording differs between panels as printed: "Percent by size class" under AFL-CIO unions, Other national unions and the no-representative pair, but "Percent of size class" (not "by") under Other local unions. Transcribed as printed. Dash rules ("——") are transcribed as empty cells: the cumulative-percent cell of the "Total RC and RM elections" row, every percent cell whose paired count is 0, and the last column of "2,000 to 2,999". Faint/dropped decimal points in the 1-bit scan, read as decimals and confirmed by the column totals (each percent column sums to exactly 100.0): "120 to 129" AFL-CIO percent prints as "1 0" = 1.0; "170 to 179" AFL-CIO percent "0 4" = 0.4; "400 to 499" AFL-CIO percent "0 3" = 0.3 and its no-representative percent "0 9" = 0.9; "1,000 to 1,999" AFL-CIO percent "0 1" = 0.1. Arithmetic cross-checks all pass as transcribed: Number eligible to vote sums to 188,899; Total elections to 3,079; AFL-CIO to 1,298; Other national to 71; Other local to 128; no representative to 1,582; and each percent column sums to 100.0, with the cumulative percents matching the running sum of "Percent of total". Two printed percents look off by a tenth against their own counts but are transcribed as printed and are needed for the column to total 100.0: AFL-CIO "1.5" for both "100 to 109" and "110 to 119" (21/1,298 = 1.6), and Other local "3.0" for "80 to 89" and "100 to 109" (4/128 = 3.1). "16,665" in the "300 to 399" row has a small stray mark/speck immediately after the final digit; read as 16,665 (confirmed by the column total). The crop shows only panel "A. Certification elections (RC and RM)" and ends immediately after the "2,000 to 2,999" row at a rule; the table almost certainly continues (larger size classes and the decertification panel) on the following page. No caption, footnotes or page number are inside the crop.

p. 153. 13 columns: stub, 4 whole-table columns, three Number/Percent pairs under "Elections in which representation rights were won by", and a Number/Percent pair under "Elections in which no representative was chosen". The third heading band is printed as "Percent by size class" for AFL-CIO, other national and the no-representative panel, but as "Percent of size class" for other local unions; transcribed as printed. Scan quality: many decimal points are dropped by the scan so the digits read as separated by a space (e.g. "100 0" for the Total row's percent cells in the other-national, other-local columns; "12 5" in the 20 to 29 other-local percent; "2 0" at 80 to 89 and "0 8" at 140 to 149; "0 6" at 80 to 89 and "2 8" at 90 to 99 in the last column; "0 3" in several last-column cells). These are faded periods, not real spaces, and have been transcribed with decimal points. Em-dash rules ("——") appear in the Total row's cumulative-percent cell and in every percent cell whose count is 0; these are transcribed as empty cells. Doubtful cell: row "70 to 79", AFL-CIO "Percent by size class" reads 7.7 in the scan, but 12/153 = 7.8; every other percent in that column rounds correctly, so this is either a misprint in the source or a misread of a faint 8. Transcribed as printed (7.7). Row "300 to 499" has its last-column percent (0.3) printed slightly low/offset relative to the row's other figures, but it belongs to that row. This crop is the second part of a table that begins on the previous page: section "A." (RC elections) is not in the image, and the table caption carrying the footnote-1 marker is above the crop. The footnote line at the bottom edge is partially clipped but legible. Row labels are followed by leader dots, which have been dropped.
