Reader’s notes
p. 133. 15 columns: stub + 5 under "Number of polls" + 5 under "Employees involved" + 4 under "Valid votes cast". Header is four levels deep; tall single headings ("Total", "Total eligible", "Percent of total eligible", and the stub heading) are repeated down the levels they span, as are the spanning group headings. Scan quality: many decimal points print faintly or drop out, so several percentages appear in the image as a gap rather than a point (e.g. the Total row's last cell reads "20 5", and "24 8", "78 5", "19 4", "100 0", "76 6", "70 3" elsewhere). These are decimal fractions in context and all cross-check against the counts, so they are transcribed with decimal points. The heading of column 13 appears as "Percent of total, eligible" with what may be a comma after "total"; I read that mark as a scan artifact and transcribed "Percent of total eligible", matching the identical heading in column 15. Em-dash rules (long dash fills) appear in five percentage cells where the corresponding count is 0; each is transcribed as "": Other national unions (Number of polls / continued authorization / Percent of total, and Employees involved / continued authorization / Percent of total) and Other local unions (Number of polls / deauthorization / Percent of total, Employees involved / deauthorization / Percent of total, and Valid votes cast / Cast for deauthorization / Percent of total eligible). "AFL-CIO unions" is printed with a dash that scans heavier than a hyphen; transcribed with a plain hyphen. No arithmetic was altered: all three detail rows sum to the printed Total row in every column.
