The stub heading is blank apart from a stray printer's dot, so it is transcribed as an empty cell. "RC cases", "RM cases" and "RD cases" are centered section banners printed across the value columns rather than in the stub; they are given as label-only rows with the label in cell 0. The asterisk is printed to the LEFT of the three "Pending October 1, 1993" totals (*2,104, *128, *427) and is a footnote marker; it has been moved behind a caret after the value. Each of those three asterisks is clearly a marker, not a digit. Em-dash rules ("——") appear in the Employers column for all RC and RD rows and in the five filing-party columns for all RM rows; these are transcribed as empty cells. In the "*" footnote the scan shows no period after "annual report" before "Revised totals"; the text is transcribed as it appears (a period may have dropped out in printing or scanning). The "1" footnote marker belongs to the caption, which is excluded per instructions. All printed column figures add to the printed totals for the RC and RD sections, which supports the digit reading; nothing was computed or corrected.
