Reader’s notes

p. 143. 17 columns: stub plus eight case-type panels of Number / Percent of cases closed. Decimal points in the percent columns are frequently faint or lost in this scan (e.g. All C "100 0", CA "84 0", CG "81 6", CC "1 1", CD "0 9"); since every percent in the table is printed to one decimal, these have been transcribed with decimal points. Em-dash rules in percent cells (printed beside a 0 count) are given as "". Doubtful cell: CC cases, Percent column, row "Otherwise" — read as 1.1, but 13 of 861 is 1.5 percent, so the second digit may be a damaged 5. Printed arithmetic does not always close and is transcribed as printed: the CA Number column sums to 23,534 against a printed total of 23,537; CB sums to 7,995 against 7,996; CC sums to 864 against 861; CD sums to 218 against 217 (All C column sums exactly to 32,855). Row cross-sums of the eight panels match the All C figure in every row except "Before issuance of complaint" (panels 28,203 vs 28,204 printed) and "After Board order adopting ... in absence of exceptions" (panels 207 vs 206 printed). Also as printed but arithmetically odd: CA "After circuit court decree" shows 1.0 where 197 of 23,537 is 0.8, and CD "After Board decision, before circuit court decree" shows 0.4 where 1 of 217 is 0.5. Stray ink specks sit in the left margin and in the CG "Number" heading cell; they are not footnote markers.
