667 of 667 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 130. The crop is cut off at the bottom: the body ends mid-table at "Automotive and other transportation equipment", which is the last fully printed row (its baseline sits on the bottom edge of the image). The table continues onto further rows/pages not shown here, and no footnote block is visible in this crop, so `footnotes` is empty even though the caption carries a raised 1 and the stub heading carries a raised 2. Column structure: 17 columns. "Industrial group^2" and "All cases" are tall single headings spanning all three header levels; "Union deauthorization cases", "Amendment of certification cases" and "Unit clarification cases" span levels 1-2 with UD/AC/UC on level 3; the C- and R-case column labels (All C cases, CA...RD) span levels 2-3. Hyphenated headings were rejoined ("Union de-authoriza-tion" -> "Union deauthorization", "Unit clar-ification" -> "Unit clarification", "certifi-cation" -> "certification"). Reliability check: for every one of the 20 rows the seven C columns sum exactly to "All C cases", the three R columns sum exactly to "All R cases", and All C + All R + UD + AC + UC equals "All cases". No value was computed or adjusted - the check only confirms that each figure sits under the column it is printed in. Minor legibility points (all resolved, none doubtful enough to change the digits): the scan renders several terminal "1"s with a serif that resembles a lowercase iota (e.g. CA 361 for "Stone, clay, glass, and concrete products"; RM 1 for several rows); the arithmetic check above confirms each reading. Stray ink specks appear in the UD column beside "Petroleum refining and related industries" and in the RD column beside "Ship and boat building and repairing"; these are scanning artifacts, not digits or footnote markers.

p. 131. This crop is a continuation page: the column headings are reprinted here, but the body is cut off at the bottom edge immediately after the "Business services" row (its horizontal rule is not shown), so further industrial-group rows, the services subtotal and any footnotes continue beyond this crop. Likewise, the manufacturing detail rows above "Measuring, analyzing, ..." appeared on the preceding page, so the two manufacturing rows shown here do not account for the "Manufacturing" subtotal; no footnote block is printed on this image. Doubtful cells: (1) "Electric, gas, and sanitary services" carries a small raised mark after the word "services" that I read as footnote marker 3, but at this resolution it could also be a stray prime/apostrophe; I transcribed it as ^3. (2) "U.S. Postal Service" — the period after the second "S" is not visible in the scan (it prints as "U.S Postal Service"); I restored it as the more likely typesetting. (3) A stray ink mark sits inside the leader dots of the "Coal mining" row label; it is a scan artifact, not part of the label. Verification: every data row is internally consistent — CA+CB+CC+CD+CE+CG+CP equals "All C cases", RC+RM+RD equals "All R cases", and All C + All R + UD + AC + UC equals "All cases". The two subtotal rows whose components are fully visible on this page ("Mining" and "Transportation, communication, and other utilities") also sum exactly from their member rows in every column. No printed value appears to be a misprint.

p. 132. The crop is the final page of a continued table ("—Continued" in the caption), so the body begins mid-list: the "Services" line is the sector subtotal for a block of rows most of which appear on the preceding page. Only the last five service-industry detail rows are printed here, followed by the Services subtotal, the Public administration line, and the grand total. 17 printed columns: stub, "All cases", eight ULP columns (All C cases, CA, CB, CC, CD, CE, CG, CP), four representation columns (All R cases, RC, RM, RD), and the single-column UD, AC and UC groups whose two-line group titles span the top two heading levels with the code letters on the third level. Column-header hyphenations repaired: "Union de-/authorization" -> "Union deauthorization", "Amendment of certifi-/cation" -> "Amendment of certification", "Unit clar-/ification" -> "Unit clarification". The row label "Museums, art galleries, and botanical and zoological gar-/dens" is one row, joined. Doubtful cells: the "All cases" figure for "Public administration" is scanned with an l-shaped 1 and an O-shaped 0 ("lOl"); from the stroke forms and the arithmetic context I read it as 101. In footnote 2 the punctuation after "Source" is lost in the scan (it shows as a wide gap); it is most likely a colon, and I transcribed the gap without inventing a mark. No arithmetic was checked or corrected; all values are as printed.
