The footnote text for the marker "1" on the stub heading "Division and State" is not printed on this crop. The caption line at the very top is clipped and was omitted as instructed. The scan carries many stray ink specks and short dashes in the body (e.g. a stray mark left of "3" in the Middle Atlantic Teamsters cell, before "13" in the Indiana no-representative cell, before "6,446" in the East North Central total-valid-votes cell, before "537" in the Wisconsin no-union cell, and several in the Iowa row); these were read as scan noise, not as digits, minus signs or footnote markers. All such cells were cross-checked arithmetically: in every row the union-detail columns sum to their "Total", won + no-representative equals "Total elections", union votes + no-union votes equals "Total valid votes cast", and each division subtotal equals the sum of its states, so the digits transcribed are internally consistent throughout. Row labels "New England", "Middle Atlantic" and "East North Central" are indented division subtotal rows set off by rules; they are transcribed as ordinary rows.

This is a continuation page ("—Continued"), so no footnote text is printed below the table even though the stub heading carries a superscript 1 marker; the note itself appears on the table's first page. The crop is cut off at the bottom: "New Mexico" is the last fully printed row and the Mountain division subtotal and later divisions continue on the following page. The West North Central subtotal row covers states that begin on the previous page, so only its own internal column sums could be checked. Scan specks: several cells carry stray dots or short dashes from the scan that are not typography — e.g. the Valid-votes-for-unions "Total" cell for District of Columbia prints as "-0" (transcribed 0), Delaware's Teamsters votes cell prints as "- 26." (transcribed 26), Alabama's Valid-votes-for-unions "Total" cell has a mark before 127, and leading dots appear before Delaware's eligible/valid-votes cells, North Carolina's "no representative"/valid-votes/final cells, West North Central's final cell, Texas's "Other local unions" votes cell, and Montana's/Idaho's AFL-CIO votes cells. In every case the digits themselves are clear and the specks were dropped. All subtotal rows that have their full component rows on this crop (South Atlantic, East South Central, West South Central) reconcile exactly across all 16 numeric columns, and the within-row identities (union total = sum of the four union types; total valid votes = union total + votes for no union; total elections = elections won + elections with no representative) hold in every data row, which supports the column assignments.

Crop issues: (1) The table caption is cut off at the top edge, and the footnote line keyed to the stub heading "Division and State^1" is cut off at the bottom edge — only the top halves of its letters are visible (it appears to concern the Census Bureau / U.S. Department of Commerce geographic divisions), so it is not transcribed in `footnotes`. (2) This page continues the table from the previous page: the "Mountain" subtotal (34 elections) covers more States than the three printed here (Arizona, Utah, Nevada, summing to 12), the earlier Mountain States being on the preceding page. Doubtful cells: in the "Total, all States and areas" row, the last column ("Eligible employees in units choosing representation") is printed with a stray mark resembling a period immediately before the digits (".14,174"); it is a stray leader dot/speck, not a footnote marker or decimal point, so the cell is transcribed as 14,174. Similarly, a stray apostrophe-like speck sits before Nevada's 0 in that same last column, and small specks appear before Alaska's 0 and Hawaii's 30 in the "Valid votes cast for unions" group; all are print artifacts, not markers. Internal arithmetic checks (row and column sums for the Pacific, Outlying Areas, Mountain, and grand-total lines, and the vote breakdowns within each row) are all consistent with the figures as transcribed; no misprints detected.
