p. 168. Eight columns: stub, Total, and six columns under the spanner "Identification of filing party"; the stub column has no printed heading, so cell 0 of both heading levels is empty. "Total" and the six party columns each occupy both heading levels, so they are repeated. "RC cases", "RM cases" and "RD cases" are centered section banners printed across the data columns, not in the stub; they are transcribed as label-only section rows in cell 0. The asterisk marker on the three "Pending October 1, 1990" totals is printed to the LEFT of the number (*2,335, *172, *447); following the marker convention it is written after the value as 2,335^*, 172^* and 447^*. Em-dash rules (------) mark "no cases" and are transcribed as empty cells: the Employers column in every RC and RD row, and all five union/individual columns in every RM row. All five row totals in each of the three panels add exactly to their printed components; no arithmetic discrepancies found. Scan speckles: a stray ink dot sits just right of the "RD cases" banner, another between the "Other national unions" and "Other local unions" columns in the RD "On docket fiscal 1991" row, and another in the RD "Closed fiscal 1991" row near "Other national unions". None of these are digits or footnote markers; they are ignored. Leader dots in the stub, including the ragged broken runs in the RC "Closed fiscal 1991" and RD "Received fiscal 1991" rows, are dropped. The footnote's quotation marks are printed as doubled typewriter apostrophes (''on docket''); they are rendered as ordinary double quotes. Diacritic-looking dots over some "i" characters in the body ("Pendıng", "Receıved") are scan artifacts of the original typeface and are transcribed as ordinary letters.
