Representation Elections in Which Objections and/or Determinative Challenges Were Ruled On in Cases Closed, Fiscal Year 1990

p. 176. DOUBTFUL CELL: row "In RC cases", column "Total objections^1 / Percent". On two separate views of the scan the glyphs read as "1 3" (two digits with a gap), which under this page's dropped-decimal convention gives 1.3, and that is what I have put in the cell. It is almost certainly a degraded printing of 12.6: the Number cell beside it is 455 and Total elections for RC is 3,607 (455/3,607 = 12.6), and every other percent on the page matches its own Number/Total ratio exactly. Treat the cell as 12.6 if you are correcting against the arithmetic; I did not alter it because I transcribe only what is visible. DECIMAL POINTS: this is a 1-bit scan in which many decimal points in the Percent columns failed to print, so the digits appear separated by a space ("1 8", "10 5", "6 7", "8 5", "26 6", "50 0", "2 2", "4 5"). I have restored the decimal point in each of those cells, the same way a space after a digit-grouping comma is closed up. The affected cells are: All representation elections / Objections and challenges Percent (1.8); In RC cases / Objections only Percent (10.5); In RM cases / Total objections Percent (6.7); Consent elections / Total objections Percent (8.5); Regional Director-directed elections / Challenges only Percent (2.2), Total objections Percent (26.6), Total challenges Percent (4.5); Board-directed elections / Total objections Percent (50.0). EM DASHES: many Percent cells hold a single em dash (nil) rather than a figure; per the dash-rule instruction these are transcribed as empty cells. They occur in: In RM cases (Challenges only Percent, Objections and challenges Percent, Total challenges Percent); In RD cases (Challenges only Percent); Consent elections (Challenges only Percent, Objections and challenges Percent, Total challenges Percent); Expedited elections (all four Percent columns); Board-directed elections (Challenges only Percent, Objections and challenges Percent, Total challenges Percent). SECTION LABEL: the second section line is printed "By type of election." with what looks like a full stop where the parallel line above has "By type of case:". The mark is probably a colon whose upper dot dropped out in the scan; transcribed as it appears. STUB HEADING: the stub column carries no printed heading, so its header cells are empty; the two heading levels are otherwise as printed, with "Total elections" (printed "Total elec-tions") spanning both levels. STRAY MARK: a small speck sits between "143" and "3.3" in the "All representation elections" row. It is scanner dirt, not a footnote marker, and has been omitted. ARITHMETIC: all column totals are internally consistent as transcribed (By type of case and By type of election each sum to the "All representation elections" line in every Number column), which is why the single RC percent cell stands out as a print defect rather than a data error. OCR TEXT: the scan renders many dotless "i" glyphs (e.g. "electıons", "ın"); these are transcribed as ordinary letters.
