Reader’s notes

p. 170. Grid is 17 columns: stub + 8 case-type panels (All C, CA, CB, CC, CD, CE, CG, CP), each with a Number and a "Percent of cases closed" column. The stub head "Stage of disposition" spans both heading levels, so it is repeated in both. Decimal points: the scan drops or faints the decimal point in many percent cells, which print as e.g. "92 7", "9 5", "12 9", "10 5", "3 2", "0 7", "4 2", "0 1", "100 0". These are ordinary one-decimal percentages in this table, so they are transcribed with the decimal point restored (e.g. 92.7, 100.0). The affected cells are: CE and CG totals (100 0); CB and CG "Before issuance of complaint" (92 7); All C "After issuance of complaint" (9 5), CC (12 9), CP (10 5); CE "After hearing opened" (3 2); CA and CB "After Board order adopting..." (0 7); CP "After Board decision" (4 2); CB "After Supreme Court action" (0 1). Doubtful digits (last digit only, column named): CE cases / "After Board decision, before circuit court decree" percent reads 1.7 but 1 of 62 is 1.6 percent; CP cases / "After Board decision, before circuit court decree" percent reads 4.2 but 12 of 294 is 4.1 percent. Both are transcribed as they appear on the page. Percent cells printed with an em dash rule (no percentage shown, count of 0) are transcribed as empty strings per the convention for dash-rule cells. Arithmetic checks pass: each panel's eight stage rows sum to its printed total, and the seven case-type totals sum to the All C total of 32,756. The caption carries footnote marker 1 and is excluded as instructed; the single footnote beneath the table is captured.
