The superscript 1 on the stub heading "Division and State" is printed here, but its footnote text is not on this crop, so `footnotes` is empty. In the "Total" sub-heading of the elections-won-by-unions group (column 2) there is a small stray mark printed just below the word, resembling a lambda. It does not match any footnote marker used elsewhere on the page and reads as a scan speck or broken type, so it is omitted from the heading rather than transcribed as "Total^...". Flagging it in case the full page shows a marker there. Scan artifacts not carried into the cells: the "i" in Connecticut, Ohio, Illinois and Wisconsin is frequently dotless or broken in this 1-bit scan, and a stray ink dot sits immediately left of Illinois's "4,409" in the last column. Arithmetic cross-checks all pass, which raises confidence in the digits and in the column each one sits in. For every state row the four union sub-columns sum to the group "Total" in both the elections block and the votes block; "Total" elections won plus elections with no representative chosen equals "Total elections"; and union votes plus votes for no union equals "Total valid votes cast". Each of the four division subtotal rows (New England, Middle Atlantic, East North Central, West North Central) equals the sum of its member states in all 16 numeric columns. No printed total appears to be in error.

All values were arithmetically cross-checked: in every state row the four union-vote components sum to the union "Total", union total plus "Total votes for no union" equals "Total valid votes cast", and each of the three division subtotal rows equals the column sum of its member states in all 16 numeric columns. No discrepancies found. No illegible or doubtful cells; the only faint spots are leader-dot runs after some labels (e.g. North Carolina, South Carolina, Arkansas), which do not affect any value.

p. 245. This crop is the last page of a multi-page table; it begins mid-division. Nevada is the final state of the Mountain division, so the "Mountain" subtotal row covers states printed on the preceding page(s) that are not in this image. Likewise the "Total, all States and areas" row sums all states in the table, most of which are not on this crop. Indentation in the stub distinguishes state rows (flush left) from division subtotals and the grand total (indented); only the wording is transcribed. All arithmetic checks that can be made within the crop hold: the Pacific row equals the sum of Washington through Guam, and the Outlying Areas row equals Puerto Rico plus Virgin Islands, in every one of the 16 value columns. The footnote is printed as "U.S Department of Commerce" with no period after the S; transcribed as printed. The scan is slightly speckled but no cell was doubtful.
