  1. 1 Sec. 8(a)(3) of the Act requires that to revoke a union-shop agreement a majority of the employees eligible to vote must vote in favor of deauthorization.

37 of 37 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 233. 15 columns: stub plus 5 under "Number of polls", 5 under "Employees involved (number eligible to vote)", and 4 under "Valid votes cast". The headings nest four deep only in the "Employees involved" block (In polls -> Resulting in deauthorization / Resulting in continued authorization -> Number / Percent of total); the shallower headings of the other blocks are repeated downward to fill the four header levels. A stray comma- or apostrophe-like speck is printed in the upper part of the stub column, above the stub heading; it is page dirt, not a footnote marker, and is omitted. The row label printed "AFL-CIO unions" uses an en-dash-like rule between AFL and CIO; transcribed as a hyphen. All printed totals and column sums are internally consistent (e.g. 41+43=84; 3,973+637+145+532=5,287); no misprints detected. All cells legible.
