Reader’s notes
p. 258. 12 columns. The stub column carries no printed heading, so cell 0 of both heading levels is empty; "Total proceedings", "Total dispositions" and "Pending in district court Sept. 30, 1988" are tall single headings spanning both levels and are repeated in each. In the "Under Sec. 10(e) total" row the "Total proceedings" cell is printed as a raised 1 followed by 0, transcribed as 0^1 (footnote marker plus the value 0). The section labels "Under Sec. 10(l) total" and the 8(b) sub-rows use a lowercase italic l that scans much like a digit 1; the caption confirms Sec. 10(l). All row and column sums in the body are internally consistent, so no misprints are suspected.
