783 of 783 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 249. The crop ends mid-table: the body is cut off immediately after "Oil and gas extraction", so the nonmanufacturing section (and any further subtotals/grand total) continues on the next page. No footnote text is printed within the crop, although the stub heading carries a superscript 1 marker, so its text must be taken from the continuation page or page foot. 17 printed columns: stub, "Total elections", the five-column "Number of elections in which representation rights were won by unions" block, "Number of elections in which no representative was chosen", "Number of employees eligible to vote", "Total valid votes cast", the five-column "Valid votes cast for unions" block, "Total votes for no union", and "Eligible employees in units choosing representation". No internal inconsistencies found: for every data row the four union subcolumns sum to their "Total", won + no-representative equals "Total elections", union votes + no-union votes equals "Total valid votes cast", and all 16 numeric columns of the 22 industry rows sum exactly to the printed "Manufacturing" subtotal. The scan is clean; the only small-type cells I double-checked were the AFL-CIO votes for "Coal mining" (6) and the "Other local unions" votes for "Primary metal industries" (5), both of which satisfy their row sums as transcribed.

p. 250. 17 columns: stub, "Total elections", the five "elections won by unions" columns, "no representative chosen", "employees eligible to vote", "total valid votes cast", the five "valid votes cast for unions" columns, "total votes for no union", and "eligible employees in units choosing representation". Crop boundaries: the body is cut off at the bottom edge — "Miscellaneous repair services" is the last row visible and the table clearly continues (no closing rule, no total line, no footnote block). The footnote text for the marker on the stub heading "Industrial group^1" is therefore not shown on this image, so `footnotes` is empty. The top of the body is also mid-table: the first printed row is the detail line "Mining and quarrying of nonmetallic minerals (except fuels)" followed immediately by the indented division subtotal "Mining", so the earlier mining detail lines are on the preceding page. Row labels in the original are set at three indent depths (detail lines flush left, division subtotals such as "Mining" and "Transportation, communication, and other utilities" indented and set off by horizontal rules, and the "Construction"/"Wholesale trade"/"Retail trade"/"Finance, insurance, and real estate"/"U.S. Postal Service" block at an intermediate indent — each of those is a one-line division). Indentation is not representable in the grid; labels are transcribed as printed. No doubtful cells: every row's internal arithmetic checks (union-detail columns sum to the union totals; union total + no-union = total elections / total valid votes), and the "Transportation, communication, and other utilities" subtotal reconciles exactly with its six detail rows in all 16 numeric columns. The "U.S. Postal Service" row is printed as 0 in every column, as transcribed.

p. 251. This crop is the final page of Table 16, continued from preceding pages: the first four detail lines (Museums ... through Miscellaneous services) belong to the Services division whose subtotal is the indented "Services" row below them; earlier industrial groups are not on this image. Indentation in the stub distinguishes detail lines (flush left), division subtotals ("Services", "Public administration", indented one step) and the grand total; the transcription keeps the printed wording only. All rows are internally consistent on arithmetic (component union columns sum to their "Total", and won + no-representative = total elections), so no misprints are suspected. The image is clean and every digit is legible; the heading "AFL-CIO" is printed with an en-dash-like hyphen and is rendered here as a plain hyphen.
