p. 273. The crop cuts the table off after "Oil and gas extraction"; the table continues below (further mining/nonmanufacturing groups and the grand total are not on this image). The stub heading carries footnote marker 1 ("Industrial group^1"), but the footnote text itself is below the crop, so `footnotes` is empty. Typesetting spaces inside numbers were closed up per instructions: "1 219" -> "1,219" (Apparel row, Eligible employees in units choosing representation), "5 558" -> "5,558" (Electrical and electronic machinery row, Valid votes cast for unions - Total), "1 042" -> "1,042" (Manufacturing row, Number of elections in which no representative was chosen). In the row label "Measuring, analyzing, and controlling instruments, photographic, medical, and optical goods watches and clocks" there is a wide gap after "goods" where a comma appears to have dropped out in printing; transcribed as printed, without a comma. Arithmetic cross-checks: every column of the 22 manufacturing detail rows sums exactly to the printed "Manufacturing" subtotal, and within each row the four union breakdown columns sum to the row's union totals, so the digits and column assignments are internally consistent. No printed value appears to be a misprint.

p. 274. This is a continuation page ("—Continued") of Table 16; column headings are reprinted here, so they are transcribed. The table continues past the bottom of the crop: "Miscellaneous repair services" is the last fully printed line visible, and the remaining service-industry rows plus any totals and the footnote text (the marker "1" on "Industrial group" has no printed footnote on this crop) fall below the crop. Row structure: rows 2 ("Mining") and 14 ("Transportation, communication, and other utilities") are indented summary/subtotal lines set off by rules; the subtotal line for the transportation group is verified by addition over the six preceding rows (all 16 columns add exactly). Row 1 ("Mining and quarrying of nonmetallic minerals (except fuels)") is a component of the Mining group whose earlier components appear on the preceding page. Doubtful cells: in "U S Postal Service" the periods of the abbreviation are not resolvable in the scan (it is almost certainly "U.S. Postal Service" in the original print); transcribed as the characters that are legible. In "Local and suburban transit and interurban highway passenger transportation", the "Valid votes cast for unions / Total" cell is printed with a broken first "1" and reads as 1,197; the row's internal arithmetic (529+511+17+140 = 1,197 and 1,197+846 = 2,043) confirms it. In "Electric, gas, and sanitary services" the last cell prints with an l-shaped "1" and is 1,388 (confirmed by the 7,171 subtotal). Every data row's internal arithmetic checks out (total elections = won + no representative; union total = sum of four union types; valid votes for unions + votes for no union = total valid votes), so no misprints are suspected on this page.

This crop is the final portion of Table 16, continued from the previous page; the four detail rows at the top (Museums... through Miscellaneous services) belong to the Services group whose subtotal row follows them, and the earlier industry detail rows are on the preceding page. The column headings are printed on this page and are transcribed above. 17 columns: stub, Total elections, five columns under \"Number of elections in which representation rights were won by unions\", three tall single columns, five columns under \"Valid votes cast for unions\", then Total votes for no union and Eligible employees in units choosing representation. In the \"Total, all industrial groups\" row the \"Number of elections in which no representative was chosen\" cell is printed as \"2 569\" (space instead of a comma); transcribed as 2,569. The \"Services\" and \"Public administration\" subtotal rows and the grand-total row are indented in the original but their labels are given as printed. All row and column sums check out internally (e.g. 1,204+524+61+162=1,951; 1,951+2,569=4,520; 106,461+123,112=229,573), so no misprints are suspected. The footnote's punctuation (colon after \"Source\" and the periods in \"D.C.\") is faint/broken in the scan; the wording is certain.
