Final Outcome of Representation Elections in Cases Closed, Fiscal Year 1986

p. 256. 16 columns: stub, "Total elections^2", six columns under "Elections won by unions", "Elections in which no representative chosen", six columns under "Employees eligible to vote" (of which the last four sit under "In units won by"), and "In elections where no representative chosen". Decimal points and some commas are lost in this scan. The "Percent won" column prints as e.g. "42 6", "100 0", "0 0" with a gap where the decimal point should be; I have restored it ("42.6", "100.0", "0.0"), since every value is a one-decimal percentage and each equals Total won / Total elections. Likewise in the "1-union elections" row the Teamsters and Other-national cells print as "12 843" and "2 250"; I have written "12,843" and "2,250", confirmed by the column sums (57,380 + 12,843 + 2,250 + 4,733 = 77,206). Arithmetic check: every subtotal and the grand total cross-foot correctly in all 15 numeric columns, and the four "In units won by" components sum to "In elections won" in every row. The one soft spot is the "1-union elections" percent, printed 41.6 where 1,799/4,330 = 41.55 (i.e. 41.5 on normal rounding); transcribed as printed. Section line: the row reading "A All representation elections" spans the page above the body. A period after the "A" is not legible at this resolution (the report's usual style is "A. All representation elections"); transcribed without it. Only section A appears here — any section B continues beyond the crop. Footnote markers ^1 (on the caption, excluded) and ^2 (on the "Total elections" heading) are present, but no footnote text is printed within this crop, so `footnotes` is empty; the definitions presumably fall below the cropped area or on a facing page. Row labels use "v" for versus; no period is visible after it. Cells shown as em-dash rules are transcribed as empty; printed zeros are kept as "0" (e.g. Teamsters v National, Other national unions = 0; Teamsters v Teamsters percent = 0.0).

The crop is a continuation page ("—Continued"), showing only panel B of Table 13; panel A is on the preceding page and no footnote block is printed on this image (the "1" marker on the caption year and the "2" marker on "Total elections" are defined elsewhere). Scan quality: this page is a 1-bit scan in which small periods frequently fail to render. Every value in the "Percent won" column is printed with a one-decimal point that appears as a gap (e.g. "47 9", "100 0"); I have transcribed these with the decimal point (47.9, 100.0, etc.). Each is consistent with the printed ratio of "Total won" to "Total elections" (982/2,051 = 47.9, 1,705/3,495 = 48.8, etc.), confirming the decimal reading. Likewise two digit-grouping commas dropped out of the scan and have been restored: "5 194" in the 2-union elections row, column "In units won by / AFL-CIO unions" (= 5,194, and 1,450+679+77+2,988 = 5,194), and "143 594" in the Total RC elections row, last column (= 143,594, and 137,835+5,759+0 = 143,594). The centred section line reads "B Elections in RC cases"; the period after "B" is not visible in the scan but is almost certainly present given the same period dropout seen in the numbers, so I have transcribed it as "B. Elections in RC cases". All subtotal and total rows were checked against their component rows and every column adds correctly; no misprints detected. Em-dash rule cells ("——") and the blanks they occupy are rendered as empty strings; printed zeros are kept as "0". The "v" in the two- and three-union row labels is set in italics in the original; transcribed as plain "v".

Crop is a continuation page ("—Continued") covering panels C and D only; the table is cut off at the bottom immediately after D's "2-union elections" row, so the expected "Total RD elections" row (and any footnote text for markers 1 and 2) falls outside this crop. The footnote marker 1 is on the caption (excluded) and marker 2 on the "Total elections" heading, which I kept as "Total elections^2"; the footnote texts themselves are not printed on this image. Punctuation in this scan is very light: decimal points in the "Percent won" column and the period after "v" in the versus-row labels do not resolve as distinct dots at this resolution, appearing as gaps (e.g. "19 4", "AFL-CIO v AFL-CIO"). I transcribed them as the printed values they must be (19.4, "AFL-CIO v. AFL-CIO"), consistent with one-decimal percentages; likewise the section lines read as "C" / "D" followed by a gap, transcribed as "C." / "D.". The percent values are confirmed by the won/total ratios in every row. All em-dash rules and blank cells were rendered as empty strings; printed zeros kept as 0. In RD "Other local unions" the "Other national unions" cell shows a broken dash rule ("-- -") rather than a value, recorded as empty. Every column total and section subtotal in both panels was checked against the component rows and all of them add up as printed, which supports the column assignment.

p. 259. This crop is the tail of Table 13 (a "—Continued" page): the column headings are reprinted in full, but the body holds only the single row "Total RD elections". "Percent won" cell: printed as "24 6" in the scan — the decimal point did not survive the scan/binarization. Transcribed as "24.6" because the position is a percentage and 211/857 = 24.6; flagging in case a literal rendering is preferred. The footnote marker 1 belongs to the caption ("Fiscal Year 1986^1"), which is excluded per instructions; the footnote text itself is printed under the table and is included. Marker 2 attaches to the "Total elections" heading. Footnote punctuation is transcribed as it appears: the scan shows commas where periods would be expected ("was made, for example,") and no terminal periods on either footnote; these may be worn periods in the original. Arithmetic checks pass as printed: 131+59+2+19 = 211; 857−211 = 646; 12,708+2,096+87+836 = 15,727; 36,221−15,727 = 20,494.
