  1. 1 Sec. 8(a)(3) of the Act requires that to revoke a union-shop agreement a majority of the employees eligible to vote must vote in favor of deauthorization.

38 of 38 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 187. Decimal points: this 1-bit scan drops most periods, so every percent cell prints as e.g. \"72 9\" with a gap where the decimal point belongs; all percent cells are transcribed with the decimal point restored (72.9, 27.1, 100.0, 0.0, etc.), since the gap is a scan artifact and the arithmetic confirms one decimal place. The same loss affects the footnote (\"Sec 8(a)(3)\" on the page) and the final sentence period, both restored.\n\nDoubtful cells, row \"Teamsters\", columns \"Valid votes cast / Cast for deauthorization / Number\" and \".../ Percent of total eligible\": I read 340 and 41.4, but these two are mutually inconsistent and only one can be right. 340 makes the Number column add to the printed total (2,304 + 340 + 39 + 205 = 2,888), and every other column of this table adds exactly to its total; but 340/734 = 46.3, not 41.4. Conversely 304/734 = 41.4 exactly, which would make the percent right and the column sum short by 36. The glyph read as the middle digit (4 vs 0) is the crux and I could not resolve it at this resolution; treat both cells as uncertain.\n\nHeader: the last column heading images as \"Percent ot total eligible\"; the \"f\" of \"of\" is broken in the scan and is transcribed as \"of\". Stray ink marks sit in the header block (a tick after \"deauthorization\" in the Number-of-polls spanner, a smudge under \"Number\" in the employees-in-polls group, a mark before the Total row's \"94\" and before AFL-CIO's \"75.0\"); none of them are footnote markers and none change a digit. The row label is printed \"AFL–CIO unions\" with an en dash; transcribed with a hyphen.
