Reader’s notes
p. 184. Twelve printed columns: stub, "Total elections" (a tall heading spanning both header levels), then Number/Percent pairs under each of the five spanner headings. The stub column has no printed heading. Decimal points in the Percent columns are very faint in this 1-bit scan (e.g. the "All representation elections" objections-only percent reads as "9 3" on the page). I have transcribed them as one-decimal values ("9.3"). This is supported arithmetically throughout: 8/116 = 6.9, 16/116 = 13.8, 100/784 = 12.8, 123/784 = 15.7, 7/34 = 20.6, 5/34 = 14.7, all matching the printed digit strings exactly, so the missing character is a dropped decimal point and not a space between integers. All column sums check out against the printed totals, which supports the digit reading: by type of case 3,639+204+879 = 4,722; by type of election 116+3,785+3+784+34 = 4,722; objections only 370+14+56 = 8+327+0+100+5 = 440; challenges only 186; objections and challenges 113; total objections 553; total challenges 299. Footnote 2 appears on the page to read "challengers were ruled on"; the expected wording in this table series is "challenges were ruled on". I have transcribed the characters as they appear, but the "r" may be a scan artifact or a printer's error. Reader should treat this word as doubtful. Two stray ink marks are present and are not data: a comma-like speck in the blank stub area of the "All representation elections" row, and a small tick just left of "239" in the Total challenges Number column of the "In RC cases" row. Neither is a footnote marker.
