Reader’s notes
p. 243. 23 columns: stub, two "Total" columns, then five outcome groups (Affirmed in full; Modified; Remanded in full; Affirmed in part and remanded in part; Set aside), each split into Fiscal year 1984 (Number, Percent) and Cumulative fiscal years 1979-1983 (Number, Percent). Dot loss in the scan: this reproduction drops small dots throughout the body type (the dots over "i" are missing in "Circuit", "Fiscal", "Cincinnati", "St Louis", "horizontally"), so printed periods and decimal points render as blank space, e.g. the percent cells appear as "67 6", "65 3", "10 0". I have restored them as decimal points ("67.6") and as the abbreviation/numbering periods in "3. Phila., PA", "8. St. Louis, MO" and the circuit numbers "1." through "11."; the circuit-number periods and the sentence-final periods on the two footnotes are inferred from the same dot loss rather than seen. No digits were affected by this. Arithmetic checks (not used to alter any cell): every row's five Number cells sum to that row's Total for both the fiscal-year-1984 and the 1979-1983 cumulative panels, the column totals reproduce 259 and 2,051 in the "Total all circuits" row, and every printed percent matches Number/Total to one decimal. Nothing appears misprinted. The last stub entry, "Washington, DC", is printed flush left without a circuit number (the D.C. Circuit), unlike the numbered rows above it. "11. Atlanta, GA" carries the raised footnote marker 2. Caption (Table 19A, with its raised footnote marker 1) omitted as instructed.
