Formal Actions Taken in Representation and Union Deauthorization Cases, Fiscal Year 1983

p. 182. Seven printed columns: stub, "Cases in which formal actions taken", then five under "Formal actions taken by type of case" ("Total formal actions taken", RC, RM, RD, UD). A double vertical rule separates RD from UD; consistent with that, the "Total formal actions taken" column equals RC+RM+RD only and excludes UD in every row (e.g. 1,061+87+186 = 1,334 for "Hearings completed, total"). Every row was cross-checked against that identity and against the subtotal structure of the "Cases in which formal actions taken" column, and all of them reconcile. "Review of regional directors' decisions" is transcribed as a section line with no values, with "Requests for review received" as the data row beneath it (the printed values 738/736/616/39/81/0 sit on the "Requests for review received" line). The two lines could alternatively be read as one wrapped label, but the indentation matches the header-plus-child pattern used lower down for "Regional directors' decision" and "Outcome". In the UD cell of "Hearings completed, total" a small stray mark (a short dash or tick) is printed just left of 13; it is scanner/typesetting debris rather than a footnote marker or digit, and the value is read as 13. A similar isolated stray dot appears near the stub/column-1 rule on the last row ("Dismissals on record"). The scan renders many lowercase "i" characters without a dot (e.g. "Hearings", "Initial", "Decisions", "regional"); these have been transcribed as normal spellings.

p. 183. The page is a continuation ("—Contd.") of Table 3B; the column headings are reprinted on it, so header_rows is filled. The stub holds an indentation hierarchy (By Board > In stipulated elections > No exceptions ... etc.); indentation is not preserved in the grid, only row order. Apparent arithmetic oddities, transcribed exactly as printed: (a) "Board action on request ruled upon, total" shows 55 in the "Cases in which formal actions taken" column while "Request for review received" above it shows only 54 and "Withdrawn before request ruled upon" shows 0; (b) in that same column the component rows Granted 7 + Denied 47 + Remanded 1 = 55, consistent with the 55 total, so the discrepancy is with the 54 received. (c) "Decisions on objections and/or challenges, total" total-formal-actions 941 vs RC 831 + RM 34 + RD 76 + UD 12 = 953; the by-type columns likewise exceed the total on several other rows (e.g. row "By regional directors": 150+6+16+7 = 179 vs 172). These are as printed; no correction made. Two rows have labels wrapping over two printed lines and were joined: "No exceptions to regional directors' reports" (printed "direc-/tors' reports", end-of-line hyphen repaired) and "In directed elections (after transfer by regional director)". Scan quality is good; no cell was doubtful. A small stray ink mark sits in the stub area beside the "Affirmed" row; it is not a footnote marker and was ignored.
