p. 178. Eight columns: stub, Total, then six columns under the spanner "Identification of filing party". The stub has no printed heading; "Total" is a tall single heading spanning both heading levels. The case-type lines ("CA cases" ... "CP cases") are centered section headings that span the body width and carry no values. The asterisk on each "Pending October 1, 1982" Total is printed to the LEFT of the figure (e.g. "*16,236"); per the marker convention it is transcribed trailing, as "16,236^*". The asterisk appears only in the Total column, not on the filing-party cells. Arithmetic check (not used to alter any cell): in all 35 data rows the six filing-party figures sum exactly to the printed Total, so no misprint is suspected. Footnote punctuation: this scan drops or renders invisibly the sentence periods in the footnotes ("...definitions of terms", "...Sept 30, 1982", "...annual report Revised totals"). The footnotes are transcribed as the characters are legible on the image; the periods after "terms", "Sept" and "report" are most likely present in the original print but cannot be seen here. Heading hyphenation repaired: "AFL-CIO unions" (printed "AFL-/CIO/unions"), "Teamsters" ("Team-sters"), "Individuals" ("Individ-uals"), "Employers" ("Em-ployers"). The caption ("Table 1A.—Unfair Labor Practice Cases Received, Closed, and Pending, Fiscal Year 1983 1") is omitted as instructed; its superscript 1 is the marker for the first footnote.
