Reader’s notes

p. 330. Two printed columns: the stub "Stage" and a single value column "Median days". Section/heading lines (I, II, the two "A Major stages completed—" lines, "3 Close of hearing to—", "4 Filing of petition to—") carry no value and are left empty. Punctuation after the outline enumerators is uncertain: the scan is a coarse bitonal image in which small marks are lost (dots over "i" are missing throughout, e.g. "Filing" prints as "Fihng"), so any periods after "I", "II", "A", "B", "C" and the digits 1-5 would not survive. I transcribed them without periods, as they appear; the original typesetting may well have had "I.", "A.", "1." etc. Under II.A.3 and II.A.4 the indented sub-lines "Board decision issued" and "Regional director's decision issued" each appear twice (once under each parent); they are distinct rows, not a duplication error. A handwritten/stray ink mark (a small arrow) sits in the right margin beside the row "3 Close of hearing to issuance of administrative law judge's decision" (value 132). It is an annotation outside the table rules, not printed content, and is not transcribed. A similar faint stray tick appears at the right rule beside the "C Age^1 of cases pending Board decision" row. The footnote markers are raised digits attached to the word "Age" in rows I.B, I.C (marker 1) and II.B, II.C (marker 2); they are recorded as "Age^1"/"Age^2".
