Size of Units in Representation Cases Closed, Fiscal Year 1982

p. 322. 15 columns: stub + 4 single columns + 8 under the spanner "Elections in which representation rights were won by" (4 union groups x Number/Percent by size class) + 2 under "Elections in which no representative was chosen". Decimal points: in this scan all small dots are lost at the resolution available to me (the dots over the letter i are also missing, e.g. the headings read "Size of unit", "Cumulative", "Certification" with dotless i). Every one-decimal percent therefore appears with a space, e.g. "100 0", "24 1", "0 8". I have transcribed these as "100.0", "24.1", "0.8" etc., since they are plainly one-decimal percentages, but the decimal point itself was not directly legible in any percent cell. The same applies to the period after the section letter in "A. Certification elections (RC and RM)". Crop: the table is cut off at the bottom. The last transcribed row, "3,000 to 9,999", sits at the very bottom edge; any further size classes (e.g. a "10,000 or more" line), the panel-B section ("B. Decertification elections" or similar) and any footnotes are not on this image. The caption identifies the full table as Table 17; only panel A is present here. Blank cells: many "Percent by size class" cells are blank where the corresponding Number is 0; these are left as "" and the 0 is kept in the Number column. The "Cumulative percent of total" cell on the "Total RC and RM elections" row is blank as printed. No footnote markers were visible anywhere in the crop.

p. 323. Crop is the continuation page of Table 17; it carries only panel B (Decertification elections, RD). Panel A is on the preceding page and is not in this image. The column headings are reprinted on this page, so header_rows is filled. Decimal points: this scan is a thinned 1-bit image in which most printed periods have dropped out, so percent values appear as e.g. "100 0", "28 3", "5 0". A few survive ("25.0" at 10 to 19 Percent of total, "7.7" at 50 to 59 Teamsters percent, "2.1" at 130 to 139 AFL-CIO percent, "10.0" at 300 to 499 Other local percent), confirming the one-decimal format throughout. I have written every such value with its decimal point. Likewise the period after the section letter "B" is not legible; I have written "B. Decertification elections (RD)". Empty cells: the Cumulative percent of total cell on the "Total RD elections" row holds only leader dots, and the percent-by-size-class cells beside a 0 count hold only leader dots; all are transcribed as "". Doubtful cells, both on row "200 to 299": AFL-CIO "Percent by size class" read as 9.3 and Teamsters "Percent by size class" read as 3.9. Every other percent-by-size-class cell in the table equals the count divided by its column total rounded to one decimal, but 13/141 = 9.2 and 2/52 = 3.8, so these two are either printed misrounded or my reading of the second digit (3 vs 2, and 9 vs 8) is wrong at this resolution. Arithmetic checks (not corrections): all 22 size-class rows sum across the five outcome Number columns to the printed Total elections value; all six count columns sum down to the printed "Total RD elections" figures (39,138 / 869 / 141 / 52 / 4 / 10 / 662); and the Percent of total column accumulates exactly to the printed Cumulative percent of total column, ending at 100.0.
