Reader’s notes

p. 294. 17 columns: stub plus 8 case types (All C, CA, CB, CC, CD, CE, CG, CP) each with a Number and a "Percent of cases closed" column. Decimal points: in this scan the decimal point in every percent value is faint or dropped, so the cells read visually as "100 0", "83 3", "1 9", etc. They are one-decimal percentages and are transcribed with the decimal point ("100.0", "83.3", "1.9"). This is supported arithmetically: every percent column sums to exactly 100.0 under that reading (e.g. All C: 83.3+11.0+1.9+0.6+1.1+1.3+0.8+0.0 = 100.0; CC: 80.8+11.3+3.0+0.1+3.0+1.2+0.4+0.2 = 100.0). All eight Number columns were checked against the printed "Total number of cases closed" row and each sums exactly (All C 36,424; CA 26,581; CB 7,481; CC 1,481; CD 394; CE 72; CG 47; CP 368). No misprints detected. The leading digit of "361" (CB Number, "After issuance of complaint, before opening of hearing") is broken/blotted in the scan and could be read as a superscript-like mark; it is the digit 3, confirmed because the CB column then sums to the printed total 7,481. Where a Number cell is 0 the matching Percent cell is left blank in the print (CD, CE, CG, CP in several rows); those are transcribed as "". The one exception is "After Supreme Court action", where the All C, CA and CB percent cells are printed as 0.0 rather than left blank. The scan renders many lowercase "i" letters without dots (e.g. "Dispositıon", "issuance"); row labels and headings are given with normal spelling.
