0 of 9 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.
p. 239. Six printed columns: stub, "Total", and four columns under the spanner "Number of cases" / "Identification of petitioner". "Total" is a tall single heading occupying all three heading levels; the stub carries no printed heading, so its heading cells are empty. The spanners "Number of cases" and "Identification of petitioner" sit over only the four petitioner columns (their rules run from the vertical rule left of "Employer" to the right edge), not over "Total". The table caption carries footnote marker 1 and is excluded per instructions. In the last row label the abbreviation is printed with a wide gap ("Sept 30, 1981"); the period after "Sept" is not clearly visible in this scan and is transcribed as "Sept." on the assumption it dropped out in printing/scanning. Likewise, the terminal period of footnote 1 is faint; it is transcribed with a period. Scan noise renders some "i" dots faintly (e.g., "Pendmg", "Umon", "Identificatlon"), but the readings are unambiguous from context.
