Reader’s notes
p. 212. Nine columns: an unlabeled stub plus four Number/Percent pairs (Total, By employer, By union, By both parties^2). The stub column carries no printed heading, so cell 0 of both heading levels is empty. Decimal points: in this 1-bit scan the periods in the percent columns did not survive and print as a gap (e.g. "100 0", "41 3", "7 8"). Every percent value is a one-decimal figure, so they are transcribed with the decimal point restored ("100.0", "41.3", "7.8"); no digits were changed. Terminal periods at the ends of both footnotes are likewise absent in the scan and are left off as shown. "Regional director-directed elections" wraps onto two printed lines and is joined into one row label. All columns are internally consistent: the three party columns sum to the Total column in every data row, and both the "By type of case" block (1,081 + 29 + 89) and the "By type of election" block (29 + 833 + 6 + 326 + 5) sum to the 1,199 of the "All representation elections" line. One minor arithmetic point, transcribed as printed: RD cases / By both parties shows 7.8 where 7 of 89 is 7.87 (the other cells in the table round up in this situation); it is printed clearly and is not a reading doubt. The crop contains the whole table; no cells are illegible.
